Is John L. Smith the next Duffy Daugherty?
In his weekly blog, Steve Grinczel of MLive.com usually lets his hair down a little (what hair he has left) and talks about some things that don’t usually make it into his weekly columns in the newspaper. This week he has a hunch “based on a wink” that John L. Smith could lead MSU to a Duffy Daugherty-like renaissance with a win this weekend.
An MSU victory could be the tipping point against Michigan
My colleagues laughed at me in the early ’90s when with a straight face, I predicted that Northwestern would win a Big Ten football championship in the not-obnoxiously distant future. I got similar snickers some years later when John L. Smith was hired when I said something to the effect of, “You know, this guy could be the one to lead a Duffy Daugherty-like renaissance at MSU.”
