Kalin Lucas becomes a Spartan
Tom Izzo got an unexpected holiday present with a verbal commitment from point guard Kalin Lucas of Orchard Lake St. Mary’s High School. Many experts consider Lucas to be the top PG in the state of Michigan regardless of class. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard is MSU’s first commitment from the state’s talented class of 2007. Scout.com lists him as a 5-star player and ranks him the #4 PG in the nation. Rivals.com lists Lucas as a 4-star player and ranks him the #28 player overall in the nation. Michigan State beat out Wake Forest, Illinois, Michigan and several others for his commitment.
Spartan fans are hoping that Lucas’ close friend Durrell Summers follows him to East Lansing. Rivals.com lists Summers, who is said to be very interested in MSU, as the #13 player in the nation and the top SG for the state of Michigan.
