MSU loses to one-man-show at Illinois
It was The Dee Brown Show on Thursday night. The Illinois point guard singlehandedly destroyed MSU’s defense with 34 points in a 60-50 Illini victory. In today’s Detroit News, Tom Izzo compared Brown to Texas’ Vince Young.
Unlike Young though, Brown has yet to win a national title. We tend to think he’d have one if he’d only picked the team that was his runner-up during his recruitment: Michigan State.
Michigan State coach Tom Izzo was convinced he was viewing the basketball version of the national champion quarterback. Especially after the way Brown dismantled a decent MSU defensive effort in No. 6 Illinois’ 60-50 victory over No. 7 MSU on Thursday night at Assembly Hall.
“I thought we faced Vince Young tonight,” Izzo said. “I’ve never seen guys make shots the way Dee made (them). This was a Dee Brown night. He won the Heisman tonight.”
