MSU’s McElwain headed to Raiders?

NFLInsidebayarea.com is reporting that Michigan State assistant head coach and wide receivers coach Jim McElwain is leaving the Spartans to take the quarterbacks coaching position with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders. What’s most concerning to Spartans fans is that McElwain was so highly respected by head coach John L. Smith that he was made an assistant head coach. Some even went so far as to speculate that he might be handed the reins at MSU should Smith retire.

McElwain, a former college quarterback at Eastern Washington, was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Montana State from 1995-99 and coached wide receivers and special teams at Louisville from 2000 through 2002.
