MSU offensive line coach excited about his players

MSUMSU’s offensive line will be inexpericenced starting next season. Very inexperienced compared to recent years. However the Michigan State coaching staff is feeling optimistic that the talent level of the OL has actually increased compared to last season. With no big question marks at other positions in the offense, a strong offensive line could help MSU repeat as one of the top ten offenses in the nation. Steve Grinczel of MLive.com reports that offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland has been pleasantly surprised by the play of Jesse “the Body Snatcher” Miller.

“I don’t want to even talk about it,” Stoutland said, as if doing so would jinx the sophomore who has played sparingly. “He’s accelerated. His (high school) coach is a good friend of mine and he wants to fly in and see him practice. He called me the other day and said `I don’t know how you did it. Show me some film.’

“From the time he got here, to now, he’s the most improved.

Spartan head coach John L. Smith also is giddy about Miller.

“The guy I think really has had a great off-season, just looking at his feet and watching what he does, is Jesse `the Body Snatcher’ Miller,” Smith said. “I don’t see how we can keep that kid out of the lineup. He’s got a massive body, and he can move.”
