High praise for recievers from new MSU WR coach

MSUBlaine Bennett has seen plenty of good receivers in the past after working with on Purdue’s coaching staff for five seasons. Bennett is hoping to add even more depth to the position by developing Devin Thomas and freshman T.J. Williams into contributors. Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal reports that during Bennett’s years with the Boilermakers he never saw a set of receivers as talented as Michigan State’s current receivers.

“Top to bottom, they’re more talented than any group I had at Purdue,” Bennett said of MSU’s receivers. “At Purdue we usually had one or two top guys, and that’s why we tried to get the football a lot to those one or two guys. Here, we’ve got six or seven guys like that.”

If there’s an area rich in quality depth at MSU, it’s receiver, where six regular contributors from last season are back. But there’s still much to be done at the position in the final two weeks of spring ball.

One of Bennett’s priorities is getting a pair of talented newcomers - junior-college transfer Devin Thomas and freshman T.J. Williams - ready to produce. Both, Bennett said, are good enough to be in the playing group in the fall.
