Hoyer wins backup QB spot, Adams back to bandit
As expected, sophomore Brian Hoyer is still penciled in as QB Drew Stanton’s backup heading into next season. The Lansing State Journal reports that Hoyer still has a ways to go though.
The same story also mentions that SirDarean Adams has switched back to first-string bandit.
MSU coach John L. Smith said he wants to get Hoyer “a lot more live snaps” before the summer.
“(Hoyer’s) not where we’d like him to be by any means,” Smith said. “He just needs a lot of snaps.”
Hoyer edged redshirt freshman Domenic Natale for the No. 2 job last year as well. Hoyer saw limited action last season, completing 15 of 23 passes and throwing two touchdowns in five games.
