Izzo discusses Brown’s NBA draft chances
Shannon Brown’s decision to test the murky waters of the NBA draft didn’t come as a surprise to Tom Izzo. However, even Izzo seems unsure about how high Brown might be drafted.
In this press conference video from WILX Channel 10 (8 minutes, 40 seconds), Izzo believes that Brown will become an NBA player whether it be this year or next.
“I would have to say over the years of doing this, that this has been one of the hardest to come up with a true idea of where he is now (in the draft). That’s why he’s going to do it like he’s doing it. He’s not going to take an agent. He’s going to span the process because as of right now it’s a wide range of guesses (on where he’ll be drafted.) Guess is the best word because nobody has a true feeling.
“I think Shannon is definitely an NBA player and what he does with that, whether it be this year or next year, I don’t know, but it’s only a sad day because you kinda hate to see your best players go. It’s a happy day because if he’s good enough to be a first round pick at a position he wants to be in, and he goes, I’ll get to do what I did with Morris…and Eric…and J.R…and Charlie last night. I’ll get to watch him on TV all next year in my basement at 10:30 at night.”
