Spartans hope to be drafted on Day 2

NFLWhile no Michigan State players are expected to be drafted in the first three rounds of the NFL draft, a few are hoping to be drafted in the later rounds on Sunday. Domata Peko, Eric Smith, and Stefon Wheeler are mentioned as the most likely MSU seniors to be drafted. Brandon McKinney, Kyle Brown, and Chris Morris will likely go undrafted and have to go the route of free agency. Shannon Shelton of the Detroit Free Press reports that Peko and Smith have the best chances to hear their names called in the draft.

Defensive tackle Domata Peko and strong safety Eric Smith are the two Spartans most analysts predict will get picked up on the second day of the draft. Peko and Smith participated in the NFL scouting combine in February, along with offensive tackle Stefon Wheeler.

“I got a lot of feedback that I really improved my standing with what I did there,” said Smith, who recorded a 4.58 mark in the 40-yard dash.
