Spartan recruit Keith Nichol chosen as an Elite 11 QB

MSUFuture Spartan quarterback Keith Nichol is now truly considered one of the elite quarterbacks in the nation. He has been chosen to compete in the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp in Southern California. The camp annually invites the best high school quarterbacks in the nation to participate and boasts past alums such as MSU’s Jeff Smoker and Drew Stanton as well as Heisman contenders like Vince Young, Matt Leinart and Ben Roethlisberger. MLive.com reports that Nichol will be graduating from high school early so that he can participate in spring practices next year at MSU.

A 6-foot-2, 200-pounder and returning Class A Player of the Year, Nichol also said he was going to graduate from high school after the first semester of his senior year, enrolling at Michigan State for the 2007 spring semester.

“That gives me a chance to get another spring practice under my belt. I will be that much further along,” said Nichol, who has been Lowell’s starter since his sophomore season, amassing 4,144 yards passing. “With (present MSU quarterback) Drew Stanton graduating, I want to get in, see if I can get on the depth chart early. It just makes sense.”
