Too early to say goodbye to Shannon Brown?

MSUEarlier this week, Chad Ford of ESPN.com wrote about the rave reviews Shannon Brown was getting for his workout with various NBA teams on Thursday. Those pro scouts were extremely impressed and thought Brown had become a guaranteed first round draft pick. Fans put two and two together and started wishing him good luck next season in the NBA. Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal reports that the Browns have made no decisions yet and are now waiting to hear those assurances from individual NBA teams.

The next phase is a few individual workouts in the next week. Brown will drive to audition for the Indiana Pacers, then fly to the East Coast for workouts with the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets and Boston Celtics.

He’d do more, but since he doesn’t have an agent to pay for travel, the Browns must send him to workouts on their own dime.

Does the fact that they’re willing to invest this much indicate that Brown is leaning toward staying?

“There’s no lean,” Chris Brown said. “We still have a long way to go and a lot of information to gather.”
