Trio hoping draft day is Spartan green
Since the end of the college basketball season, Michigan State’s NBA hopefuls have toured the country and worked out for most of the teams in the league. Maurice Ager has been particularly busy and has worked out for more than half of the NBA’s teams. Shannon Shelton of the Detroit Free Press writes that Ager is hoping his frantic workout schedule pays off on draft day.
“I don’t really see how it can hurt me,” Ager said about his extensive schedule during a radio interview with an East Lansing network last Monday. “As long as I’m going into workouts and I’m playing well and I’m not worn down, that gives more teams the opportunity to see who Maurice Ager is.”
Although their workout schedules haven’t been as extensive, Michigan State teammates Paul Davis, a center in college who is being looked at as a power forward, and Shannon Brown, a shooting guard, also have visited with a number of NBA squads seeking the same result — a first-round selection and the accompanying guaranteed NBA contract.
