John L. Smith to speak at local Kickoff Luncheon

MSUCollege football is just around the corner. Fans are snatching up preseason magazines and buying the newest version of NCAA football video games. September can’t get here soon enough. If you fall into that category, John L. Smith will be speaking at the Mid-Michigan Touchdown Club Kickoff Luncheon on August 3rd.

2006 Kickoff Luncheon Scheduled for Aug. 3
Football head coaches from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Michigan State and Western Michigan will gather to preview the upcoming season.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Mid-Michigan Touchdown Club, a chapter of The National Football Foundation, invites college football fans to attend the 2006 Kickoff Luncheon, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich. Central Michigan head coach Brian Kelly, Eastern Michigan head coach Jeff Genyk, Michigan State head coach John L. Smith and Western Michigan head coach Bill Cubit as well as selected players from each program will gather to preview the upcoming season.

Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr declined an invitation to participate in the Kickoff Luncheon due to a scheduling conflict with U-M’s Fantasy Football (Camp) Experience.

Tickets for the 2006 Kickoff Luncheon are priced at $25 each for Mid-Michigan Chapter members and $30 each for non-members. Tables of eight are available for $200 each for chapter members and $240 each for non-members. The deadline for ticket applications is Monday, July 31.
