Tinney will get a second chance at MSU
It was reported earlier this week that incoming freshman Ken Tinney might get another shot at MSU after being kicked off of the football team just last month. His local newspaper, the New Haven Register, is now confirming that he will indeed get a second chance at MSU. He is scheduled to return to East Lansing this Sunday and will undoubtedly be watched closely by fans and the coaching staff. It is still not known why he was originally asked to leave the program.
Tinney is currently training at Milford Academy, located in New Berlin, N.Y., where he played for two seasons before committing to Michigan St. last fall and finally meeting academics requirements into the Division I-A school this spring.
“He’s working out for a week up here with them (Milford Academy) and then reports to Michigan St. on Sunday (when Michigan St. opens fall camp),” said Milford Academy head coach Bill Chaplick.
It’s been a tumultuous ride for Tinney since graduating from Ansonia in 2003, when he was named the Register’s State Most Valuable Player.
