Safeties deliver plenty of hits against Idaho
The good news is that MSU’s safeties had several solid hits against Idaho. The bad news is that MSU’s safeties had several solid hits against Idaho. Nehemiah Warrick and Otis Wiley each had 12 tackles against the Vandals. The issue is that so many tackles by a team’s safeties usually means there’s a problem with a defense’s front seven. Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal reports that communication was one of the keys for the two safeties.
“We did a lot of communicating,” Warrick said of he and his safety partner. “We could have done better. We had a little mix-up here and there, but it’s nothing we can’t fix.”
If anything needs fixing, it’s the guys in front of Wiley and Warrick. Combined, they had 24 of MSU’s 75 tackles, and four of its five pass break-ups.
