Neitzel lifts Spartans over No. 19 Texas

Tom Izzo’s young Michigan State team passed their first big test of the season with a 63-61 victory against No. 19 Texas in New York’s Madison Square Garden. The Spartans will face Maryland at 9:30 Friday night in the College Hoops Classic benefiting Coaches Vs. Cancer final.

Reports are coming out that Michigan State has started interviewing coaching candidates. Names being mentioned (today) are LSU’s Bo Pelini, Charlie Strong from Florida, Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, Pat Shurmur of the Philidelphia Eagles, and Central Michigan coach Brian Kelly.
