Big Ten news: Gophers fire Glenn Mason

Following the largest comeback ever in a bowl game during their 44-41 loss to Texas Tech in the Insight Bowl, Minnesota has fired Glenn Mason according to ESPN.com and wire reports.

MSU’s best game of the season beats UM in GLI final

Michigan State defeated Michigan 4-1 in the Great Lakes Invitational final on Saturday in what coach Rick Comley called MSU’s best game of the year.  The Spartans’ special teams were on fire with three power play goals and a shorthanded goal.

Suton leads Spartans with 27 points

Goran Suton and MSU’s bigs lead the Spartans to a 74-61 win over Loyola on Saturday afternoon.  The win sets a Michigan State record with 13 wins during the non-conference schedule.

Spartans should set nonleague win record against Greyhounds

Michigan State’s non-conference schedule hasn’t been quite as tough as past seasons.  Ok, it hasn’t been very tough at all.   With a win over Baltimore’s Loyola Greyhounds of the Metro Atlantic Athletic, MSU will set a school record for nonleague wins.
