#25 Spartans take on the mighty Mastadons of IPFW
MSU jumped into the top 25 for the first time this season and will take on the mighty Mastadons of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. IPFW is coached by former Big Ten player Dane Fife, making him the youngest coach in Division 1.
The Mastodons, a Division I independent, haven’t played particularly well so far. They lost by 43 to Notre Dame and couldn’t beat their in-state acronym rival, IUPUI. But Fife’s team hung close with a quality Air Force team in its last game before falling 78-66. IPFW played with MSU last season, hitting 12 3-pointers, before falling 84-73 at Breslin. Fife, a Clarkston native and former standout for Indiana, is the youngest head coach in Division I at 27.
