Spartans should set nonleague win record against Greyhounds

Michigan State’s non-conference schedule hasn’t been quite as tough as past seasons.  Ok, it hasn’t been very tough at all.   With a win over Baltimore’s Loyola Greyhounds of the Metro Atlantic Athletic, MSU will set a school record for nonleague wins.

Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal provides an update on the 5-5 Greyhounds.

Loyola update: The Greyhounds, out of Baltimore and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, have been sticking to their own level for most of the nonleague season. But they traveled to Northwestern on Wednesday and led by seven midway through the second half before enduring a long drought and succumbing, 66-60. So does that mean Loyola’s dangerous or Northwestern’s dreadful? One thing’s for sure, the Greyhounds should be better with Isreal, an athletic 6-foot-8 forward who transferred from Notre Dame and has been eligible for just the past two games. Brown is a prolific 6-4 guard, and Sullivan is the team’s top 3-point threat, a 43.5 percent shooter from beyond the arc. Patsos was a 13-year assistant at Maryland, so expect a Terps-like press today, hoping to force some MSU turnovers.
