Big Ten Preview: title up for grabs
Ohio State and Wisconsin seem like the consensus choices as the teams most likely to win the Big Ten title this season. Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal writes that Michigan State and some other teams also have a shot at the championship.
So Michigan State (13-2), which begins league play tonight at Iowa (8-6), is like a lot of Big Ten teams. It acknowledges that Ohio State and Wisconsin are the clear favorites, yet senses a wide-open landscape and the opportunity that comes with it.
“The Big Ten is weird,” MSU junior forward Goran Suton said. “Everyone says (OSU and Wisconsin) are the best two, but I think at times we’ve played great and can beat those teams. And at times we can lose to Penn State. We’ve just got to be ready to play every night.”
