Spartans can’t hang with the Hoosiers

MSU put up a good fight for most of the first half but eventually wore down and fell 73-51 at Indiana. Spartans fans have to be wondering what the Big Ten scheduling computer has against them with two opening conference games away from home, but Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal reports that Tom Izzo is making no excuses for his team’s play on the road.

And the Spartans’ effort again didn’t satisfy Izzo, who made it a point of emphasis after the Iowa loss. He started Idong Ibok in place of Marquise Gray on Sunday, then pulled Gray (six points, five rebounds) and Suton (four points, two rebounds, three turnovers) late in the second half and sat between them on the bench.

Izzo said he disapproves of players making mistakes on the court, then saying “my fault,” but not correcting the errors.

“You can’t do that on the road, it’s unacceptable,” said Izzo, who promised more personnel changes, including the possibility of playing Morgan at power forward. “If you want to lose in this league, that’s what you do. If you want to win in this league, ‘My fault’ does nothing for me. I already know it’s your fault.”
