Spartans a step slow in Ann Arbor
MSU seemed a step slow all night in a 67-56 loss in Ann Arbor. Spartan fans were speculating after the game whether the loss may have helped keep Tommy Amaker around for at least another season. MSU now hopes to get healthy in time for this weekend’s game at Wisconsin. Drew Neitzel, Drew Naymick, and Raymar Morgan are all still recovering from an illness that started over the weekend.
The Spartans (21-9, 8-7) had won four straight, including a victory over then-No. 1 Wisconsin to improve its chances of making the NCAAs for the 10th straight year.
Michigan State freshman Raymar Morgan scored 13, Goran Suton had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Drew Neitzel added 11 points — seven below his average. Neitzel did not start and seemed to be limited because of flu-like symptoms and upper-respiratory problems.
