Spartan hockey advances to NCAA title game

The Spartans continued their magic postseason run on Thursday, fighting through early adversity and outplaying Maine for the final two periods to carve out a 4-2 victory over the Black Bears in a Frozen Four semifinal in front of 18,857 fans at the Scottrade Center.
MSU (25-13-3) will try to capture its first national title since 1986 when it faces Boston College (29-11-1) at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles defeated North Dakota 6-4 in Thursday’s second semifinal.
