The new 2007 Michigan State football uniforms
Michigan State unveiled the new 2007 MSU football uniforms and helmets on Saturday. There are some minor changes such as a stripe on the helmets, and block lettering for the “Michigan State” on the front. On the back, players’ names return just below a small Spartan helmet logo. Gone are the “Marshall” green pants for the road uniforms. Both at home and away, the Spartans will wear white pants with no stripe down the side.
We would have been fine if they’d kept last year’s design but we’re very happy that the new uniforms keep a traditional old-school look. We hope MSU doesn’t change them again for at least a couple more decades.
In a press release from MSU on Saturday, athletic equipment coordinator Bob Knickerbocker said the new uniforms bring back old elements from past Michigan State football uniforms.
“This is a clean, classic uniform design,” MSU athletic equipment coordinator Bob Knickerbocker said. “The new uniform really embraces Michigan State’s football heritage. Several old elements have been added to the uniform and those are things that our ex-players and alumni can relate to. They can say, `hey, that’s how the jersey and helmet looked when I played there or that’s how the uniforms looked when I went to school there.’”
Fifth-year senior linebacker Kaleb Thornhill and junior quarterback Brian Hoyer modeled the new uniforms during a private photo/video shoot in Spartan Stadium on Tuesday, May 22.
“These are pretty good-looking uniforms,” Thornhill said. “There are some slight design changes, but not too many. The uniform went back to a more traditional look. This is a good fit for Michigan State, and hopefully, we can keep these (uniforms) around for awhile.”
