Green picks MSU

Michigan State BasketballSaginaw forward Draymond Green grew up a Michigan State fan and followed his heart by verbally committing to MSU on Thursday.

Green, a 6-foot-6 forward, is rated a top 75 player in the nation by both Scout.com and Rivals.com. Many consider him to be the best player in the state for the class of 2008 and a top candidate for Michigan’s Mr. Basketball award.

“I had to go with my heart and what it was telling me,” said Green. “It was about me being able to fit in with the players, the school and everything. It’s a great school and a great place to be.”

His final three teams were Michigan State, Indiana, and Michigan. He also had offers from Kentucky, Ohio State, Minnesota, Xavier, and Dayton.

He is the third and final recruit in Tom Izzo’s 2008 class, which will likely be ranked among the top 10 classes in the nation.
