Alamo Bowl Tickets

The Alamo Bowl is a college football game that is played in December of every year. The game pits the 4th or 5th place teams from the Big 10 conference and the Big 12 conference in an end of year bowl game.

The game started in 1993 and is now sponsored by the Valero Energy Corporation. Although the game is not one of the major bowl games of the year, it is still well attended and features some great match ups. Alamo Bowl tickets are much less expensive than they are for the "big games". This bowl game is held in beautiful San Antonio, Texas. Big 10 teams that have competed in the game include, the University of Michigan, the University of Iowa, Purdue University, Ohio State University, Michigan State University, Penn State University, and the University of Wisconsin. The only Big 10 teams that have not competed are the University of Illinois and the University of Indiana.

From the Big 12 all but 2 teams have played in the game by the Alamo. The match up includes major teams that may have had a down season, so it gets a great variety of teams to watch.

The game is played at the Alamodome since 1993, the site where the San Antonio Spurs won their NBA championship. Because of it's capacity, it has the potential to host a Superbowl in the future.

The game has also featured many players that went on to star in the NFL. The list includes Drew Brees from the University of Iowa, Ted Ginn Jr. from Ohio State University, Lavar Arrington from Penn State University, and Brooks Bollinger from the University of Wisconsin. All of these players not only went on to become players in the pros; they were all voted most valuable player for the game in which they played. The Big 12 has won the game 6 times while the Big 10 has won the game 9 times.

Even though the Alamo Bowl is not considered to be one of the big games at the holidays, it is worth consideration if you don't want to spend the huge amounts of money that you have to for a BCS game.
