Legit or Not?
www.myspace.com/mikeyanc
4 Star and 9th Ranked OLB out of Pennsylvania has a lot of spartan helmets and huge block "S" on his myspace. Similar to Mark Dell's last year. Do you think it is legit? His blog says he will be a Junior which is NOT true. He could be bad at updating his profile though. The posts from his friends seem real and everything looks legit outside of the Junior comment. I wouldn't picture a LB to be a harry potter and notebook fan .
I should note that a PSU fan posted the link on SpartanMag asking if we were going to "Steal a LB from LB U?". I think this could be a PSU fan trying to piss off a recruit. How sick has recruiting become with the internet? Do Message Boards and Myspaces actually effect these kids? If so, that is insane!
Do you think this is real?

Something that I didn't think would happen just did. UM offered Gray at their football camp.
I don't think this will bring UM into his top-4 with us, but I guess you never know.

Isn't it against the rules to offer a kid at camp?

As I understand it, you can't formally/in writing offer.
Let me guess- your buddies at SpartanMag think Lloyd broke the rules?
How has MSU always gotten verbals at camps in the past?

One person on SpartanMag has said something and it was asking the same question I did. As I read the article on Gray that is the first thing that popped in my head. It is my understanding that you cannot offer a scholarship while the camp is in session. You can say "Mr. Gray, please give me a call when you get home from camp, I think you'll like the news". This is a recruiting dead period - recruits can contact coaches, but coaches can't contact kids.
Sounds like another example of UM bending the rules.

I don't see any Spartan helmets or Block S's at his myspace page... What gives? Did he just take them down?

My understanding is that you can verbally offer and say something like "when you get home, a formal offer will be in the mail".
But I'm sure you guys are right- after doing this for 10 years, Lloyd has decided to break the rules in his last year in an attempt to get a three hour jump start on offering a guy at the bottom of his running back list. Makes perfect sense to me.

There is no "you guys" - it's me saying this. You love to lump the "SpartanMag" crowd together.
Maybe the kid was mis-quoted, maybe its not really a violation. I do find your sarcastic rationale funny though. My response to that would be, who is to say Lloyd just started breaking the rules? Maybe this is the first time he got caught. But then again we know that isn't the case because his boy English was busy talking to kids at the Dream Team thing when he clearly shouldn't have been.

Look again. They are on it. The background is a huge block "S".

What I don't get is that kids have been saying for literally years that they were offered AT CAMP- from basically every school in the country, including MSU, UM, OSU, PSU, Texas, etc. I honestly don't know where you are coming from on this. I mean, if verbally offering a kid was a violation, how in the hell are there always stories about kids verballing at camp. I mean this is no secret.
I guarantee you I could find a quote from some prospect saying MSU offered him at camp. I guarantee it.
