I guarantee you I could find a quote from some prospect saying MSU offered him at camp. I guarantee it.

I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of Rivals articles so you may be right, there may be quotes from kids saying they got called to a coaches office while at camp and got offered a scholarship. Maybe it's one of those "minor" rules that everyone breaks so its ok. I just found the quote kind of funny, assuming my interpretation of the rule is correct.

You got me thinking about recent articles on MSU guys. Khoury was the last new offer that I remember. Here is an article on him from camp...

NCAA rules prevent college coaches from offering players when they are on campus participating in camps. But both Khoury and his family left East Lansing feeling like a Spartan offer would be forthcoming.

A. I remember specifically articles saying "JLS told me to call him when I got home, I did, and he offered"
B. I'll be seeing Lloyd and Debord this Friday at a wedding. Want me to ask him for you BigM?
Maybe I can get some spartantailgate.com merchandise signed for you

His blog says he will be a Junior which is NOT true. He could be bad at updating his profile though. The posts from his friends seem real and everything looks legit outside of the Junior comment. I wouldn't picture a LB to be a harry potter and notebook fan .
I should note that a PSU fan posted the link on SpartanMag asking if we were going to "Steal a LB from LB U?". I think this could be a PSU fan trying to piss off a recruit. How sick has recruiting become with the internet? Do Message Boards and Myspaces actually effect these kids? If so, that is insane!
Do you think this is real?

Well considering he probably just got out of school 2 weeks ago, he WAS a junior until recently.
Could be legit.

Yancich is really one of the top 'backers around. If we could get both him and Demens, look for one of the Big Ten's top defenses in a few years.

after taking a peek at that myspace page I think its
a) pretty clear he likes MSU
b) he likes god
I think the fact that Dantonio is very religeous will be a huge positve for MSU. It obviously sells well to parents and it will bring in a lower risk type of young man. If MD can pull in 7 wins this year he could lock down a top 15 class.

It's entirely possible. JLS nailed a top-15 class after his first 8 win season.

But I'm sure you guys are right- after doing this for 10 years, Lloyd has decided to break the rules in his last year in an attempt to get a three hour jump start on offering a guy at the bottom of his running back list. Makes perfect sense to me.
|
M buddy, let me slow this down so you can follow along . . . the rule agaisnt making offers at camp was insitituted a couple of years ago. We don't care what Lloyd did 10 years ago at camp.

I have no idea what the rule explicitly states, but what if a kid walks up to a coach and says, "Coach, I'm committing to you, I want to go here," even though no "official" offer has been made? That doesn't sound like it would be against the rule, as it's been stated on here.
And in the case of the '09 kid, how do you know he didn't have an offer prior to camp?

Because the article said he committed immediately after getting the offer.

Ok, fair enough... I can't read the whole premium article.
But what the first scenario, where a kid commits without an official offer... are there rules against that?

Well since this thread has gotten completely sidetracked thanks to Big Morons inputs and worthlessness lets get back on it people....
What are the thoughts and chances on the remaining recruits of interest
Terrelle Pryor 6.1
MarQueis Gray 5.7
Braden Hanson 5.7
Jonas Gray 6.0
Brandon Beachum 6.0
Fred Smith 5.9
Corey Johnson 5.7
Barrett Jones 5.9
Deon'tae Pannell 5.7
Jimmy Bennett 5.7
Rocko Khoury 5.6
Ethan Ruhland 5.5
Nick Perry 5.8
Tyler Hoover 5.8
Masengo Kabongo 5.9
Dawawn Whitner 5.7
Marlon Walls 5.8
Mike Yancich 5.9
Kenny Demens 5.8
We don't seem to be targetting or in on many DB's as of yet. or its just not been updated. I feel we have a good shot at the likes of M. Gray, J. Gray, F. Smith, C. Johnson, D. Pannell, J. Bennett, R Khoury, E. Ruhland, T. Hoover, M. Yancich, K. Demens..... thats 11 guys we have a a very strong case in with others with supposed dual-interest. Personally I think if MSU can add even 8 of these guys we will be in great shape. It's still early in the process

Big weekend for Coach D. Fred Smith will be on campus with his parents, both UM fans, and coach has a great opportunity to get this recruitment more in our favor.

Of those on your list, Ill say:
- MarQueis Gray
- Jonas Gray
- Deon'tae Pannell
- Kenny Demens
- Mike Yancich
- Dawawn Whitner
- Tyler Hoover
- Ethan Ruhland
That would be very, very great. Combined with some role players, and we've got the makings of a good future in EL.
