I don't see him committing either, but its definitely a positive to get him on campus for an official visit.

That's all a program like MSU can ask for at this point. You just want to get the kid on campus and get a home visit. You get your chance to make your pitch.

This is serious BS.

Don't look at me, man. I didn't merge it.
Seriously..the Nick Perry thing probably does deserve it's own thread. This was also the FIRST thread to be merged into here in over 4 months. So blame everyone else for still posting in here.

It's great that he's finally visiting. The only thing is there is almost no way he commits to us this weekend. He said he plans on waiting close to signing day, hasn't visited USC, or officially visited UofM, etc. This could get us one step closer to landing his commitment.

I just wish there was a home basketball game.

This is informative, thank you. I was wondering why people before were saying there's no way he commits this weekend, but adding nothing they've seen from him to support that.

The biggest part of this visit is that Perry has gon on record as saying that he would visit neither MSU or SCum officially. He would use the official visits to see other schools that he doesn't get to see as much. Very surprising and unexpected.

From greenandwhite.com
Quote:
With MSU landing Westland John Glenn's Keshawn Martin last month, who Helmholdt said U-M had a strong interest, it appears the lone prospect both programs have offered a scholarship to is Detroit King four-star linebacker Nick Perry, who led King to the state title. Perry, a 6-foot-4, 240-pounder, shattered the Michigan high school quarterback sacks record by 10 finishing with 36 and has scholarship offers from many of the nation's elite including USC and Miami (Fla.).
"With Perry, not enough people are giving MSU credit," Helmholdt said. ..."If I had to pick one team that I think has the best chance it's probably Michigan State."
|
Also, on linebacker and OL recruiting.
Quote:
|
"We need to get some more O-linemen," Staten said. "We're graduating four and have four that are juniors and it takes offensive linemen a little while to develop. We need to really do really well at recruiting the linebacker position because we've got three seniors at that position."

I see Iowa's about to lose (or has lost) the only remaining legitimate threat to run the ball next year. With Albert Young and Damian Sims graduating, it was down to Javon Pugh (the guy who scored the winning TD against us in IC ). Apparenly, Pugh isn't around anymore.
I know Iowa's high on Ingram, and he was in Iowa City this weekend. Hope it isn't a case of perfect timing and the need for immediate PT, because Iowa would have it.

Ingram is going to get lots of notice and Iowa has loads of playing time available but I suspect Ferentz is going to get CA Juco Leonard Mason to shore up his depleted backfield.
Iowa is also recruiting Darrius Kinney out of New Berlin NY and so is MSU. It may be that whoever commits to MSU or Iowa first gets the other school.

Looks like MSU recruiting target Morgan Carter has committed to Rutgers. Still waiting from confirmation on rivals.

wouldn't be surprised because of rutgers location and that rutgers and us were really the only high level teams going after him

We only had 4-5 non-committed visitors this weekend, 2 verbals would be a great close ratio.
Odds are they would be the visitors not named Stevens and Perry.
