Ingram will likely decide soon after his Alabama visit. Hoover and Adams coming in early doesn't free up any more scholarships. Even with Devin leaving it's still going to be tight trying to get 9 more in.

Did you honestly expect him to commit before he took all his visits? Do you blame Dantonio for the kid and his family deciding to take all their visits and THEN deciding?
|
Didn't say that. But I'd expect a legacy recruit to name us as the slight leader at this point, not Iowa. I don't give a damn about playing time, these are the kids that they need to sign. "Oh gosh, Iowa has more playing time available, we've got not shot, better just let him go. "
Christ, I didn't say to string Dantonio up. I just said it was disappointing that he said Iowa was recruiting him the hardest, and -here's a shocker - they're his slight leader. No, that doesn't mean the world is coming to end, and I still expect he'll be a Spartan in the end. I'd just like to hear that MSU is the leader, from a legacy recruit, when a 1-11 Minnesota team is outrecruiting us at the moment.

You know who else was out-recruiting MSU earlier in the year and everyone started getting pissed about? Nebraska.
You concern yourself too much with the decisions and actions of HS kids that aren't your own.

no hatred at all - he just didnt impress me nor did he impress me in the game earlier in the year on espn - with all the hype that the kid has recieved "the white Reggie Bush" i fully expected the kid to perform much better which would result in getting more then 3 carries in the game, am i wrong to assume that??? (if i remember the real reggie bush had 10 plus carries for like 75 yards)

I've seen the kids Iowa has coming back at RB (i.e., no one), and the kids they're bringing in (no one particularly impressive), and trust me when I say Ingram could start from day one.
When Pugh left the team, I had a feeling Ingram immediately had a new leader and that Scout article sadly confirms it. Hope Enos seals the deal down the stretch, though.

As always, AA is the voice of reason.
The timing might just not be right with Ingram. It's happened before and it'll happen again. Too bad he isn't a TE, DB or LB. I'm still hoping for the best out of this one, but that's just the way it goes sometimes.

Ozy, Let me correct you here. He concerns himself WAY too much with the comments high school kids, who are not his own, make about a decision they are going to make in a month.
(In my best Allen Iverson)....NOT decisions, not the school that they play for, but COMMENTS!! We talkin bout COMMENTS!! Not the decision, not the decision..... COMMENTS!

They picked up a pretty decent RB out of Florida last week. Can't remember his name.

Out of the Stevens sweepstakes. He's down to Oregon, Arizona State, and BYU.

Plus a different comment from Ingram in an update from a Badger reporter:
Quote:
However, Ingram says his recruitment is still an open race heading into his final visit.
"Everybody is still is even. I don't really have a favorite right now," he said. "I'm looking for something to separate them."

This might not be the best place for this but it does involve how many scholarships we have to give:
Will TJ Williams be back next season? The who starts along side Dell next season thread really made me realize that alot of people are not expecting him back. Is this based on something more than him currently being in court and the suspension filled 07'?
Whast is the status of the court case? when is the trial?

I really think that he's been looking for a reason NOT to commit to Oregon for months now. He's just trying to check out lots of different schools, but he'll be a Duck.

I agree, it wouldn've been nice, but Nitchman is a RS Jr. this year, so we have a bit of time to find another center.
Overall, I'm impressed with the overall quality talent we've brought in, mostly 3* which means that we'll have some quality depth in the coming years. The gamebreakers will come eventually, but I think you win more with developing your mid-level talent and complimenting it with 1 or more "gamebreakers".
It seemed Bobby would get about 1/3 or 1/4 of the class in the 4/5* range and then just fill in the rest with lower quality talent. When a starter would go down, we'd be relatively screwed, especially along the lines.
It seems that we don't have the high ceiling of a Smoker/Rogers/Duckett, but the overall quality of talent seems to be improving, we saw frosh and back-ups (Nitchman, Cironi, Oren Wilson, of course Jones and Gordon) step in and make solid contributions.
Just my 2 cents, but I think we'll be looking good in the coming years.
*Note: Star system used as a general reference point, well aware that it's far from accurate.

As long as our fanbase doesn't get spoiled by the consistency, I think will deliver a lot of 7-5/8-4 type seasons with decent bowl games. Sometimes better, but very rarely worse. Kids who never quit and play hard.
I don't expect MSU to ever become a traditional championship contender, but considering our track record, could really make us more competitive than we've been on a regular basis in a long, long time. That's in my book, but some unrealistic Spartans may wonder why the trophies and BCS games aren't rolling in on a yearly basis.
