It's not a generic STAY. It was very specific. He was talking about toughing it out...staying with a coach who was new, brash, and about to bust their ass.
It's about working hard, arriving early and staying late, not taking the easy road.
With that said, it seems like a heralded JUCO transfer who took a chance on an "at best" marginal program and proceeds to barely see the field as his crazy coaches turn the place into a side show and then commits and busts his ass for a new, brash and tough coach who never promised him starting minutes, only to be rewarded with a sensational year...well it seems like that kid DID STAY, and has become a champion like promised.
Besides, since when does 1 player make a program? Let's hope Dantonio doesn't dwell on 1 player this recruiting process (bringing back to topic) and continues to repair a foundation that is cracked with or without Devin Thomas.

Again,
According to Scout, he camped with Michigan.
Even if he didn't for whatever reason, how do you not know about a 3* recruit from Detroit?
You're losing your touch, M.

He camped at michigan over the summer. If you were on the U of M scout board they talked about him a fair amount, but I don't think rivals did so that would be why I assume you havn't heard of him. He supposedly did very well at the U of M camp and they really liked him, he just didn't have the grades at the time. Then they got their LB and RB commits so they didn't worry too much about him.

Yeah, I don't have Scout and I don't remember Rivals bringing him up.
Thanks for the info

Glenn Winston - Football Recruiting
He is listed as an ATH, and would be a linebacker at MSU. Ranked as the #11 player in MI by SpartanMAg.

yes that is correct. He never had the grades and he seems to be playing out of position, so I'm sure he's a guy that looks good in camp more than on film.

He has scared schools off because of his grades, but the latest update from him seems tosuggest that they have improved and that he should qualify.

Winston is supposedly an athletic freak. He looks to be a better linebacker than RB on film. He doesn't seem to have the balance of a great RB. But, he has some crazy speed for his size. Seems like he is usually reported as having a 4.5 forty, but I have seen some things that say 4.39. From his film, it is obvious he is fast. However, supposedly Nick Perry caught Winston from behind in a game this year!

Big M is just padding his post totals in the MSU RECRUITING THREAD!
Afterall, he does have to maintain his 50 post lead.

Apparently Lipscomb is going to start taking visits. No clue if he's qualified or not. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll get the test score and Auburn and Georgia will fill up. One can hope!

So I just watched Ingram's video (Just posted on Rivals)
This kid is amazing.
C'mon Enos, everyone seems to think Perry would be our signiture recruit for this class if we were to get him, but now I'm not so sure.

Winston DOES have an offer from MSU as long as his grades are in check. he has stated this in interviews as well as dorsey/comp/paul k (one of those) on spartanmag. He will be committing this weekend if, indeed, his grades are in check.

I'll say this: if we somehow, some way land Ingram and Perry both, would have a 4* legacy recruit and bookend 4* Detroit kids in an area that's basically been off-limits for our program for years. Talk about ground-breaking.
Probably wishful thinking, but that'd be a monster class for us.

Same here. WE NEED INGRAM HERE!!! He is EXACTLY the type of runner this program needs. Powerful, powerful runner. Quick, hits the hole hard, and not afraid to split defenders.
It just seems like he would fit in perfectly here. And considering how he runs, I think he could get some help learning with Ringer.

I dream of MSU being in the position to "run out" of scholarships for a guy like that...I don't know if you've seen the video on this kid but he looks like an NFL lineman already...Moves extremely well laterally and can run like a deer. That guy has more natural talent than anyone on our current o-line IMO....
