Actually, that's probably getting your hopes down.
From Pryor to a MSU DB commit?

the southeastern coach has been quoted saying that and crew would be to not give him a try at quarterback in spring ball

So..........I know Burrell is a long shot, but why would he want to go there if they could still land Pryor? That would be a pretty stupid decision on his part. I think I'd wait for another QB not named Pryor to commit before I'd even consider it.

That's why I'm sure he won't come. I hadn't even heard he was a possibility before today.

"What people don't understand," coach Donshell English said, "is he's grown two inches since the start of school. I think Michigan State would be mistaken if they don't give him a shot at quarterback."
I really like the fact that he's grown a couple inches, make him an even bigger safety. If his coach wants him to get a shot to play qb, I would take a guess that Charles does as well. MSU probably won't give him a shot, but if U of M does, the temptation to switch could be there.
|
I don't know, MD and Treadwell would probably give him some reps to see what he could do. There's no downside to it except ending up with an intense competition for the QB spot which isn't really a bad thing. That said, no one appears to have recruited the kid as a QB until now. The fact that um is recruiting Burrell as a QB, at the same time as they're trying to get Pryor seems a little incongrous, those two don't get mentioned together a lot in discussions of top QB's.
Sounds more to me like RR would use the QB talk to lure Burrell away, and then give him a token shot. If um gets Pryor, Burrell is out of luck at QB from the start. I'd say RR is trying to steal a good secondary recruit by using the QB talk, forcing the MSU staff take manpower away from other recruits to try and retain Burrell. Weren't some of the magenta recruits from um?

Before Burrell bites on the "promise" that scUM will play him at QB, he might want to invest in a phone call to the kid from Jackson (can't remember his name at the moment although I am sober, just old) who was recruited as a QB. Ended up at another position. Poor guy blew his leg out. Recruiting seems to have all the integrity of a presidential campaign, especially in scUmville.

I think you're mistaking Lloyd Carr with John L Smith.

Please, someone tell me the recruits aren't watching the "hoops" game.

I get your point, but this isn't Lloyd's team anymore, one that would never have a running QB.

Update on JB Fitzgerald.
Visited MSU this weekend, plans to visit Rutgers on the 25th.
Doesn't rule Michigan out just yet.
In house visit this week from DickRod.
We'll see....
