It's hard to pin down a valid "source" but there are tons of rumors about Burrell getting some U of M attention per Spartan Message board. I don't know if it's paranoia, U of M blowing smoke, or real validity. Who knows.

I'm pretty skeptical. Especially Ray, who wouldn't seem to be a good fit for RR's offense.

because it essentially becomes free recruiting for scUM when they prop him up as being the only option for UM.......i dont see any news stories coming out of those rags about how nick perry could step in immediately and pick up where St.Dic left off, etc
so again, what is the plan for when pryor doesnt come to UM?

Sorry, but when I attend a game and I see a potential recruit in public, I have no qualms about revealing that name, especially if the "source" is tied in with a pay $$$ site.
It's Hitler fear politics is all it is.
Now let's get some more recruits.

John Youbouty has apparently eliminated us. He was originally scheduled to visit next weekend....now he's visiting Cal.

Thought we had a decent shot at him, though I don't keep real close tabs on these guys.
What about Jacquise Smith, AA?

As far as it's been reported, he still hasn't scheduled any other visits. He was talking about Missouri on the 18th and Minnesota on the 25th though. I'm starting to wonder if we're not "running out of room" on the DLine.

Would he be a DE for sure, or a LB? (same question for Perry)
And do either of them have a preference?

Well I don't talk to the kids, but I haven't seen anything that questioned them playing DE at the next level although they likely have the size and speed to do both. Not sure if I'd want to take a couple skilled pass rushers out of their comfort zone, but that's just my opinion. We seem to be bringing in lots of linebackers for visits, but no DEs since Smith, FWIW. I don't think that they see Tre Bishop on the DLine.

I heard he was close to committing. Also Mike B. JUCO was very impressed with his visit.
What does a staff do when there are some higher prospects that have yet to commit and they have to leave room but some high quality but lower rated (by MSU) kids want to commit?
I am not implying anything to any recruits, I am curious on the process.
Also, do we know what has in mind for Whaley? He is listed as 'all purpose back' and corner depending on the site but we are pretty full at both.

I wonder about this as well. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to wait all the way until signing day to "surprise" everyone. I would think that hurts the team you are going to. I am very ignorant to this whole process but does it happen where a big time prospect tells the coach and they keep it quiet in order to hurt others that are courting the guy and keeping their options open. Thus those other teams losing out on good but lower rated prospects? Does that even make sense? Again, honest, unloaded question as I stated, I is ignant.

while this is kinda true, its not like you HAVE to sign on signing day.....its just the first day you can sign
so a team can leave a spot open for a big name guy, and can still take someone else if he signs somewhere else

Ok, so are you upfront with the 'backup' and say, hey, if our #1 choice goes somewhere else, we will take you.
Then this backup recruit also has a backup school he goes to if he isnt picked.....
On another note, Greg Scruggs, DE/TE OH,
"Greg loved his Louisville visit and clicked with Coach English. However, he will still visit Wake Forest and possibly Michigan State."

I wouldn't worry about it. I think this is the ideal situation for MSU. We can begin to put pressure on some of our top kids, because their might not be room. (e.g. The "train is pulling out of the station, are you going to get on board?") I'm sure we have promised a spot for the top guys, but when we get down to 2-3 spots, we might then have some leverage.
I also think this is a good situation because in past years under JLS, we had open spots, with very few high level prospects. Always better to have more good prospects than openings.
