Okay, so worst case is we lose out on SMith & Scruggs...
As long as he qualifies, we get Bishop. If you get Bishop, Ingram, Perry, and then one of Balogun/Edet/Lucas and an OL, still an amazing finish for MD & Co. Not to mention the Jude Bros., Fleming, and dare I say....a nice last-minute surprise.
Bottom line is that I'd take a class of 19 (Our current commits + Ingram & Perry) and be giddy as schoolboy...

I don't think a QB is all that necessary this year. With Foles and Cousins on the bench and from all reports exceeding expectations. We still have some need at MLB, DE, OL, TE. Other than that the class has good balance more than anything.

I don't either. I think it may just be that he wants to be closer to home/BigXII. He would have been a great pickup with or without Perry.

Anyways, what else do we need for this class??
I'd say
2LB
1OL
1DE
1DT
1RB
2TE
What does everyone else think?
|
At this point, all I want is the best remaining players out there that we can get. I don't even care about a thin LB class at this point. If I can take a good DB over a medicore LB, I would at this point. Just get the best players out there.

Need further insight. The real key is how does he look in his Rivals video? Is he gonna be a "solid" or a "special" player?? I look forward to your response.

He looks awesome in his rivals video. Fast off the ball, has a knack for finding his way through the line, and pursues the ball very well. He looks like he is a borderline 4* recruit.
What makes him really nice for us is his ability to be either a DE or LB with relative ease.

Come on, not another DSF
BTW, how would you feel about our LB position if we land Perry, Smith, etc. What do you honestly expect us to get? Further, what would it take to make ya happy about his recruiting year?

Honestly i'm happy with the class other than the LB recruiting. Ingram and Perry would be nice. Would have preferred that Pannell kid from Groves as far as OL is concerned but bottom line we need quality LB's.

Hell, I know you're being sarcastic, but I'd take another Ron Stanley, or Labinjo, or Josh thornhill or . . . . pretty much any type of MLB we can possibly get at this point .

No no. I was just funnin with kgb. Probably the last great MSU linebacker who was recruited as a DE. What is clear is that we won't know where all the pieces will fit until the fall. Especially if we somehow land Perry that they are talking about playing in the same fashion as Julian Peterson. I think that Jamiihr Williams looks like he has good measurables and hopefully we'll be able to get Mike Balogun too.

Balogun has the size to play B11 ILB, 6'2 240ish, right? It usually takes JUCOs a year to adjust to the speed of BCS conference play, but as much as I love Kalib's spirit, a blueberry muffin would've been more effective. I think our OLBs are set for the next 3 seasons with Jones and Gordon, both of whom will be studs in the coming years.
Perry is just a playmaker, period. Kind of reminds of Shawn Crable, tall, powerful, rangey, plus Crable was recruited as a DE and ended up playing LB, set a SCum record for TFL this year . As much as I hate to compare our recruits to SCum players, I wouldn't beyotch if Perry came here and had a similar career.
All that aside, I like Jamiihr Williams to grow into the role of MLB, take Balogun to fill the middle for 2 seasons and have Williams take over as a RS Soph during Jones and Gordon's senior years. I've got this all worked out in my head

Well Jenrette and Wiley are gonna be there. I'm sure that Burrell and Trawick will be given a shot for early PT. Fortener and Hyde are at least depth.

Are the offers from Nebraska, Missouri and A&M not enough?

Thats concerning. Remember Dantonio told trawick that a safety is being moved to LB next year. I thought he was talking about Jenrette. It will be interesting.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dixon in the secondary either...

Facts are facts, kgb -- MSU is going to get younger and thinner before it truly gets better. inherited a very old team. Things could get ugly at certain spots when it comes to playing underclassmen and inexperienced players, because it's going to take a while for any kind of depth to kick in.
