I hope has a few prospects that we haven't heard about at the lb position. I trust that he won't let us down. lb is the most important position that we needed to fill this year and it is just frustrating that we haven't landed any top prospects !

College Park is roughly 8 plus hours from SC and EL is roughly 12...so the "closer" issue really does not make a ton of sense
And as far as the proximity issue thats why I did reference the ACC...

Linebackers are going swimmingly
We just need bodies I guess at this point. Get some depth, maybe improve the talent in next years class
|
Strike one, strike two, strike three, strike 4............. Something is not right with how we are recruiting. Maybe a completed football building will help.

My thinking that where ever Perry ends up, he will be on the DL. IF he is truly 6'4 245, he could put on 20lbs and be a force at end. But of course Dantonio is one making this evaluation and I trust it completely.

Agree 100%, I kind of doubt he is coming at this point and even if he does he will make his money one day at DE, not MLB.
I thought his showing at the AA game would've put this discussion to rest.
Hopefully Coach D pulls some LB's out of the hat or we could again have depth issues the next year or two.

You are the only person in the universe who thought he was being considered for MLB.

you doubt he is coming not saying he is coming, but there is ZERO info out there that he is probably not coming. The info that IS out there is somewhat positive.

what do you think this sudden change in movement means? All within a couple days Edet drops us (most likely told him we don't have a spot for him) and Lucas drops us of his visit. On top of that, Youbouty, cancels his visit. I'm sure it has some to do with Winston, and others qualifying (Edet), but maybe it is more than that. Not trying to be a SB, but Perry WAS in here on tuesday. There WERE articles on lucas and edet on monday and tuesday that were positive. Now, BOTH are gone. Maybe it is just bad luck, or maybe it is something else.

I hope he turns down the DickRod
According to Rivals.com, the country's No. 1 high school football player, quarterback Terrelle Pryor, is interested in LSU and will visit the Tigers' campus on Jan. 25.

Just wondering: With all this talk of Linebackers we have missed out on is Balogun the only one left on the radar? We still have the Jude brothers on the radar. Is Weaver and Dempsey still an option? And hopefully we can get a Michigan decommite (Witherspoon, Wilson, or Fitzgerald).

This guy Edet doesn't know whether he is coming or going.....literally. It sounds like he has been hanging out with Taylor Hill for too long. This guy may be a headcase that definitely does not need.

wheres the problem? we can't get a linebacker to save our life? I love Williams but we need more than that. I have my opinion and so do you. I don't like what you have to say and spin machine to make everything happy and sunny but I don't comment on it.

Do you have any idea what's going on behind the scenes? Do you know why Hill, Edet, etc. aren't coming to MSU? Or do you just make assumptions and blanket generalizations because that's the type of person you are by nature?
We need LB depth, true. But next year, we'll have two sophomore veterans at LB, and a handful of others who haven't had a chance to prove themselves yet. You sound like we're going to go to a 6-0-5 defense because we can't get an LB commit or something.

I simply put a list of LB's that we were on final list of and nothing became of it. You are in fact making an assumption to my thinking. I don't know the cause of any or all of them. It just shows that everyone we have strongly pursued have for some reason or another said "no thanks". I've seen what we have a LB Gordon and Jones are going to be great. we have no MLB and not much quality depth. So if someone gets hurt we are going to be in for a hurting. I also know the kids still have another 8 months to get bigger, faster, stronger, and smarter and really do hope it happens. but face it. they are behind the curve from the get go due to JohnL.

Perry can be a DE or an OLB. I think that he would be a sick outside linebacker (i can't believe i'm saying this) like Shawn Crable. Next year, I think that he would work well as a pure Rush End, like KFD or Martez Wilson (this past year).

Given our abundance of bodies on tDL, better dust of the old 5-2 defense.

I don't think the lack of LBs in this class will be an immediate issue, and considering two staple starters are sophomores, it won't be for a while (other than potential depth problems). I really like Jamhiir Williams, too.
