I find it interesting that this OL kid out of Tampa Plant who has gotten no attention or been evaluated is taking a visit to SCum right after ours. Is RR scared that we might get a sleeper with this kid?

I remember reading somewhere (in fact, maybe it was somewhere back in this thread from Big M) that RR and his staff have big connections in Florida and were already looking at this kid before he took the Michigan job.

Hopefully Dantonio offers Whitty and his teammate, Jakes
St. Augustine High defensive lineman Brandon Whitty and quarterback Kawaun Jakes visited Western Kentucky last weekend. The Hilltoppers signed former St. Augustine standout Quinterrance Cooper in last year's class. Whitty is also drawing interest from Western Michigan and Michigan State. Jakes is being pursued by Louisville and Appalachian State. ...

Hope you're right. Talk about a kid with a high ceiling.
Again, a Scruggs/Smith combo would be golden and help if we fall out of the Perry sweepstakes.

another thought about this light yellow that will be uncovered on signing day. There very well could have been someone else who visited last weekend that we do not know about for one reason or another. He is probably committed to another school and since some people decided to be jackasses and mess up the magenta thing, they probably didn't say anything this time...keeping everyone in the dark. This is pure speculation on my part, but just a thought.

Off Topic...but I was in the Houston Airport earlier tonight when I saw Rick Neuheisel (at least I think it was him). He's a damn good class right now at UCLA.

UCLA should have announced Rick as their head coach after March Madness

However I talk with one of the interns at SpartanMag, John Claya, frequently and I asked him the Thursday before Hill's visit about Hill and if he would start as a freshman.
He told me he didn't think that Hill would be a Spartan. I asked him why and he said Comp will post on it when Hill decides on a college but look at Rivals film and measureables and you will see why. I figured it was his weight and the fact he didn't play at linebacker once in his highlights.
Try and find me one highlight of Taylor Hill playing linebacker in high school??? The kid is a prospect and will need a few years before contributing. Yeah he is a 4* kid, does that mean everything??? No it doesn't. He has potential but that is a large portion of his ranking IMO. I would take Greg Jones, a 3*, over almost every guy rated above him last year.
The fact is that Taylor Hill is a 205 projected linebacker with 4.5 speed. How much lateral quickness will he lose with added pounds???
|
you're right, except I've been told the kids closer to 190lbs and he ran a 5.0 forty at the Pitt combine.

OMG!! I can't believe I finally caught up on this thread. I've been on vacation for the last 5 days and it has taken me all day to read all the posts. I really have no idea what you all are even talking about yet I'm strangely addicted to this thread.

Another LB recruit Cincy is on we should go get.
Tyrone McBride - Football Recruiting
It appears that Division I schools will sign five Winslow players: defensive back Reuben Johnson; Tyrone McBride, the coach's nephew and a player who is being recruited as a linebacker; wide receivers Brandon Jones and Damon Julian; and running back/linebacker Keith Robinson.
"It's been hectic getting all the visits organized, but at the same time, it's a nice feeling," Mike McBride said.
Johnson is being pursued by Marshall, Toledo, East Carolina and Cincinnati, while McBride is being recruited by Massachusetts, Marshall, East Carolina and Cincinnati. Jones probably will end up at Rutgers, Virginia, Villanova or Toledo. Talley is high on the recruiting lists of Toledo, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, and Robinson is considering William & Mary, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

Scruggs had a great in home and is very excited about his visit to MSU this weekend. His mother has now decided to visit with him (initially was not).
He has a bball game on Fri nite, so it will be a Sat/Sun visit including the MSU/UM BBall game.
Positive signs and an awesome get. This will be his 5th and final official.

Hey Guys,
There is a free article at SpartanMag about the final stretch of recruiting for MSU. It goes over the current offers and players involved...

So I think we sign 5-6 more guys...
Ingram
Scruggs
Bishop
Beckford
An OL prospect (Sanderson, Bradford, Other?)
A surprise (C. Wilson, Perry, J. Smith)
Yes, I do think that if we were to get Perry or Smith, it would be a surprise at this point.

I'm thinking (hoping) that looks about right.
Again, if we don't get Perry (realistically speaking), Scruggs and Smith together would be big.
