Well, I guess we all asked the question, and thank goodness GOSTATE answered the call. Thanks very much for the headsup. I appreciate it.

That seemed like a pointless quote.

No chance we get Perry. Do I want us to...obviously, but talking about it is just wishful thinking honestly. We haven't had a landing of that calibur since Rogers and I don't see one coming this year. I'd like to be more of an optimist, but I think we need to look at reality. Would you chose MSU over USC when it comes to your future in football? I know I wouldn't. If Dantonio pulled it off, it would be a MAJOR upset and HUGE recruiting victory. Possibly a program changing victory.
Ingram on the other hand...I think we'll land him and I'm extremely fired up about him and his future at State. I think Ingram in green will be big time success for both him and the program.

If you are talking about National Championships, prob. not. But as far as getting noticed, do you think St. Dic would have stood out as much at USC? Top players at MSU get noticed- And with Dantonio here I think defensive players are going to stand out even more so.

not to mention that there is the possibility that he doesn't want to move 2500 miles from home.

Yes, I do think that if we were to get Perry or Smith, it would be a surprise at this point.

why do people think jacquise smith is such a long shot? The kid has said that he's very high on us and that he loved it here.

Never discount the fact that maybe he wants to play with RoJo....albeit not on the same side of the field...and even though they might as well have been from different states since he was from ****ing Muskegon...

Because of Missouri,Nebraska, and Texas A&M. If after all of those he says he's still high on us, then I'll believe it. We were Perry's favorite at one point too. Same with Demens.

We were in on him early, before other schools began to take notice (cherry pick). Now that A&M and Nebraska are in the mix, he has stated how excited he is about the prospects of his family being able to come and see him play every week. To me, that says A&M, if not A&M, Nebraska is a a lot closer to Texas than we are. I still think he genuinely liked MSU and our coaches, it just looks like he would prefer to stay closer to home.

I don't know whats more frustrating, never being in on the big name players, or being the frontrunner in the beginning and then losing their favor down the stretch....

Maybe one of the bad parts about being able to evaluate talent. We certainly haven't had a problem with this in recent years.
We just need to keep winning.

It does have to make you feel good about the staff's ability to evaluate talent though. They liked guys like Grant and Smith before other big schools did which has to give you confidence that the guys that have committed are pretty good regardless of their rating.

Sorry, but I haven't checked this yet online. A friend of mine just told me that Bama's scout website is reportingin a new article today that Ingram has set his decision date. Has anybody else heard this? Hopefully it is after January 28 when is set to have his in-home.

he recently said distance will not be a factor. he also didn't give his more recent visits anywhere near the review he gave his MSU visit. we're still strongly in the mix.

Not the best news on Perry:
No. 1 recruit Perry enjoys visit to USC; Michigan next
No. 1 recruit Perry enjoys visit to USC; Michigan next
Tom Markowski / The Detroit News
The state's top football prospect returned from his visit to Southern California on Sunday, and if today was signing day, Nick Perry of Detroit King might pick the Trojans.
"California was good," said Perry, a linebacker / defensive end rated the No. 1 Blue Chip prospect by The Detroit News. "So far (USC) has been the best place I've been to. They are ahead of Michigan State."
National signing day is two weeks away and Perry still has two official visits remaining. Perry is scheduled to visit Michigan on Saturday, followed by Miami (Fla.) the following weekend for his fourth and final visit.
"I just liked the environment, the surroundings," Perry said of USC. "I was around good people there -- the players, the coaches. Yes, I feel I could fit in. The need for defensive ends is great there. They want me to come in and compete (for the position) right away.
"I'm not going to commit until signing day. They wanted me to, but they're not pressuring me."
Perry (6-foot-4, 235 pounds) also played tight end and receiver at King, but his pass-catching days are over.
Not only is Perry rated the best player in the state, but Tom Lemming of Prep Football Report lists Perry as the No. 7 player overall in the country.

Guys....just let this Perry process work its way out. Most are excited after each official..especially given the teams he is visiting and the climates. Wait until he gets back from Miami!
given that, he will lay it all out on the table with his family. We are very strongly in the mix. I wouldnt micro manage this process or you will go crazy.
