lets not forget ringer was a 3* too

Ringer was a 3* WITH the blown out knee. Previously he was at least a 4* likely to get a ride w/ tOSU.

Because CR isn't MI. It's BS, based on nothing more than a feeling. If the staff didn't think CR could contribute, they wouldn't have offered him as early as they did.

The breakdown of recruits by Rocky was very nice. Agree, I am a little concerned about our LB's and lack of TE recruits considering we are losing KFD. Who will fill his spot next year? And why haven't we been able to land a top LB recruit? Considering the chance to get immediate PT and having Greg Jones being an All-American his freshman year, why no studs? Could they be expecting Perry to be a Spartan?

Jones made the Freshman All American Team, BTW. Much different than the NCAA All American Team.

Did we ever have a chance at this kid:
Tucker’s Lipscomb leaning toward Auburn commitment
By Jeff Hood
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 01/26/08
Tucker defensive back Neiko Lipscomb is expected to commit to Auburn early next week.
Lipscomb had been considering Auburn and Georgia. But an official visit to Athens this weekend didn’t materialize.
“He didn’t [visit Georgia],” Tucker coach Franklin Stephens confirmed early Saturday morning.
“He’s probably going to commit to Auburn.”
Georgia apparently does not have a scholarship remaining to offer Lipscomb.
“I think that’s what has transpired,” Stephens said.
The first-year Tucker coach said there’s not much difference between the two programs.
“Auburn and Georgia are both in the SEC and have a similar situation to offer a kid,” Stephens said. “He’s choosing between two powers in the SEC.”

He wasn't needed after Trawick committed. We had a great shot at him but it was a case of whichever committed first got the spot.

we might have had a chance
some people were saying he might not qualify. that may have been coupled with the fact that we already have a strong DB class means we cooled big on him

Thanks
The LBs may work out, but it's going to be a few years before they develop. Rolf and Williams may have to take over the middle, though it would be nice to see Rouse grow as a player and play there for the next few seasons. MLB is our biggest hole next year.
As far as TE is concerned, we have 3, 2 RS Frosh, David Duran and Celek, and a RS Soph in Charlie Gantt. (Class standing is as of the 2008 season, Duran and Celek were part of MD's first recruiting class).
Celek's brother is a TE for the Eagles and played for MD at Cincy. I don't know much about Duran except he's 6'6.
Gantt was part of John L's last class, and was a 4* recruit. I hope he's ready to step up.
We also have Dwayne "Da Da" Holmes, who's 6'0 and 270 lbs. More of an H-back than a TE honestly.
Maybe likes the TEs we have so far and won't bring one along until next year. Who knows.
As far as a stud LB goes. . . Greg Jones played like one this year and Eric Gordon was highly ranked out of HS (4*, top 15 at his position in the country). The lack of a stud MLB have been killing us since Seth Mitchell got hurt. I don't know what we're doing wrong, but if 3 years from now Jamiihr Williams is all B11 I'm not going to bitch that he was only a 2-star recruit. I'm going to trust the staff till they give me a reason not to.

Scruggs will visit next week with his mother. He could not make this weekend due to a sinus infection. too bad with the UM bball game today.

Listen, I'm not a huge fan of rankings, but if a kid's a 4-star, there's usually a reason. I think where there's a lot of subjectivity is in the 2-to-3 star range. It was pretty evident that both Ringer and Caulcrick were studs coming out of HS. I don't get that feeling about any of our current RB recruits. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong, and I'll certainly be pulling for them to succeed. But I also agree that if we don't get Ingram and land one of the RBs from the 2009 class, they'll leap-frog this year's recruits on the depth chart.
|
You forget, we have Austin White in 2010 in the bag (Livonia Stevenson RB, brother of Myles and Mitchell White). He's the best of the three brothers, and his dad ran track at State. Basically the ultimate legacy recruit.

Good to hear that Scruggs will bring his mother with him.
And I think it's only appropriate to Yourhighness.

A wide out from Ypsi was at the game today for a visit. He had a name tag on but I forgot it . I want to say Spenser or something ? But didn't see anything in Rivals data base under that name. Anyone?

Other than the 2009 recruit...what 2008 recruits were at the game today? I would think that this would be a good weekend (being MSU/UM b-ball game) to bring in a bunch...

Scruggs IS on campus?!?! Is his mother in attendance? I'd rather have him in next week with her than have him in this week alone because winning parents over can be HUGE in a recruitment (as evidenced by in the past).

The Judes had their visits cancelled to UCONN this weekend. Good news for us as Cameron said it is pretty much down to just MSU.

Did UCONN cancel or Judes?
In other news, Fleming did NOT make the trip. MSU called last week and canceled trip claiming they had gotten an LB commitment they had been looking for and didnt have a spot for him.
