i think we can pull Ingram. Bama came on late but i think MD and the Spartans are gonna be tough to beat. Perry on the other hand, is another story. The only way we land Perry is if MD blew him away with the in-home visit, but i think right now its down to Miami and Southern Cal....

This guy doesn't care what I think. I'm so ashamed.

From Morgan per SpartanMag
"I hadn't told anybody, but I had committed to Florida Atlantic last week," Morgan said. "So now I have to figure things out. The FAU coaches are supposed to come see me and Coach Barnett is also supposed to catch up with me as well. I should know something one way or another by the end of the week."
So if this orange is supposed to be reported sometime this weekend that a couple of you have reported, than Morgan could be a better possibility than others have thought.

Based on the sounds of it being a big name guy, I think that it is a 09 commitment. A big time commitment at a position of need would be TE, QB, LB, and prolly OL or DL. So the most likely candidates seem to be Maxwell the QB, Sims the TE, Norman the LB, and Campbell the DT. The only thing I worry is the kid had to tell his parents before it became public, and now it's going to be days before it becomes public (if it even does) , so maybe the parents are telling him to wait and not rush to a decision, especially if it is an 09er.
Also didn't we wait months until the Dell commitment went public becuase he wanted to wait for TV to announce it? I really hope we find out this week with this Orange haha

I think it's Gardiner too. He play Will, which is what Fleming would have played.

What, exactly, has tripped people up about this guy? I'm sure someone "in the know" re: recruiting could answer this question.

Size. But watching his video, I like him a heck of a lot more than Morgan. Much quicker and plays very low. Honestly, his video reminds a ton of Greg Jones's video. Quick, undersized, but bends his knees very well and wraps up completely.

|
i don't think its the same situation at all. rojo was an attention whore, essentially. perry strikes me as a very grounded individual.
now, i really think that perry wants to stay close to home. that would put it between state and um. i was really curious as to what perry's reaction would be after his um visit, more than usc. i'm sure he loved usc and would love to play there, but usc is in california, and that could have been the deal-breaker.
so, perry has his um visit. next thing you know, MD is rescheduling his mark ingram in-home and meeting with the perrys. so, maybe that means something good, or maybe that means MD is making a last stich desperation effort for perry. who knows?
but, reading between the lines, the amount of secrecy, the timeline, not a whole lot going on with commitments at that position (DE or LB), etc, etc....its easy to imagine that it is a possibility.
the other name i'll throw out there is hamani stevens.
and FTR, i'm not one of those guys who freaks out when guys go elsewhere. its football, and one guy does not make or break a class. i never felt that rojo or barksdale would commit to state. i feel differently about perry. tme will tell, and i could be wrong. but at the same time, i would not be shocked if there was a big surprise regarding perry.

What was the deal with people questioning his attitude/character? Was that just weak, unnecessary noise from people who don't know anything?

Well do you really think if there were character/attitude questions that Dantonio would have still offered him?

I was just wondering about the "delay" -- didn't we wait a while to officially offer? Have we officially offered? Again, I haven't paid much attention to the situation, other than the seemingly-baseless speculation that he wasn't a "Plan A" type kid for whatever reason.

We have had a lot of good LBs on the board. Size is most likely the main factor here. He's not a big guy. Unfortunately, we've been passed over by a lot of linebackers and here we are. Apparently we're full or just about full though, so I guess the speculation is about over.

Are you guessing Gardiner is the orange, AA?

No. I won't post my guess on here. I do know that there's no way it's an 09 kid.

So Hamani Stevens is thinking hard, and delayed a decision some thought would come last weekend.

I like pretty much all of these numbers. Sure he could be a little taller, but he wouldn't be the first 6-0/1 linebacker to have success at the collegiate level.

On Gardiner?
I think it was size...a bit small and supposedly his frame isnt the type to easily add lbs and if he does, without losing speed. Also, I have read his speed may be optimistic in his profile. Comparisons to Misch are made.

and a good star rating...but seems to be running under the radar. Odd.
Regarding the Orange and Perry again...more 'insiders' claim MSU is a very close 2nd to USC (and that was before last nights in home) and UM is in the back of the pack. Take it for whats its worth, but the source has a good track record.
