Was reading an article on Michiganpreps that I found interesting.
Michigan State might get some more bad news before the end of the school year because some of the players that are committed are not where they need to be academically and they are hoping these kids that will not be named come around and get the test scores they need to be eligible.
We have offered a few borderline kids that their grades might not be in order. One I'm pretty sure is Keshawn Martin. Anyone else know the others? If players don't qualify, this class could get WORSE.

I agree that Perry is gone, but based on a gut feeling and nothing concrete. I don't believe that he or Ingram have decided, by comparison, if you look at some of the other top recruits (4 and 5*), they typically reduce their list to two schools. I think we are in the running as much as anybody else at this point. Perry has no family connection to MSU, his coaches don't, etc., why would he carry us along, just to be nice. That doesn't make sense to me.
I believe he will decide on USC but is still strongly considering MSU.
My gut says that we get Ingram, deal is done. Iowa just signed another running back (2* but still) and the Alabama articles make it sound like he's a long shot for them.
Hopefully I'm right on Ingram and wrong on Perry, we'll see. And to disagree with a previous post, doesn't anybody else have a funny feeling that has something up his sleeve?

I am really excited about Martin. Come on Keshawn! Study! It's ****ing high school! You can do it! Would be horrible news if we lost a couple recruits, then loose out on Ingram/Perry, and then Bishop fails to qualify. I would consider crying myself to sleep if we only got 18 commits and we lost someone like Keyshawn.

keyshawn, anthony woods and winston are more then likely the ones in question. You better believe Dantonio has seen all of their mid-term grades and they all stand on solid ground in terms of qualifying. Keep in mind michigan preps is ran by Josh H. (Wolverine)

I believe Dantonio won't pull a ship for grades, you really don't know how they are doing right now in the classroom. Dantonio will be on them to qualify, but you really never know. When Keshawn committed he was not fully qualified. You have to take some chances on players and thats what state is doing. Don't believe that just because they are committed to MSU that Dantonio knows they will qualify for sure.
Also Josh H does not run Michigan Preps anymore. Michiganelitefootball.com was bought out by rivals and all of the writers for that site now run Michigan Preps instead. It was a good idea because Michigan Preps sucked and had no really useful articles ever.

Maybe a plan C offensive lineman). So that's a class of 24. Not bad. I also kinda include Anderson in this class so I see it as a good step forward.

Yeah, I'm a bit grumpy until my coffee kicks in, but I'm also trying to keep myself from being let down. I'm just getting a really bad feeling about Ingram, people are relying too much on him being a legacy recruit, and they are setting themselves up to be let down. It also seems like immediate playing time is very important for Mark, which won't happen in EL, but I'm sure $aban is a good enough liar to sell that to him, and I believe Iowa has playing time for him. Some of us seem to think that our program is in a better spot than it actually is, lets be realistic here. Michigan State football has not sustained success since what, the 80's? Back when I was a high school senior in 2001, I would have seriously considered going elsewhere if the offers were there. We need to give Coach D a chance to get the program's name out of the mud before we can expect anything better than average recruiting classes, and losing out on recruits to schools like NC State, Louisville, Iowa, Bama, Illinois, USC, and Michigan. WE NEED TO BE REALISTIC PEOPLE!

I don't see any bright spots. No Ingram, No Perry, No Hill, etc., et al. Not to be a downer but only moral victories (no decommits and 2 star position fills) can be hoped for at this point. And to be honest, I'd be fine with that.

Still going with this....

Hey JBS, wanna make a bet on Ingram? You can call me out on signing day if he becomes a Spartan, but he won't.

ok ok ok...there is a difference of being rational or a 'realist' and just flat out being pessimistic in every post.
We get your point, you feel we will only land a 2* in the next week and probably lose 2-3 players currently committed. Most of us don't agree, ok, fine. Enough.

I think we'd be very fortunate if we sign every one of our commits at this point.

I worry about that too... watch for SCum to recruit Charles Burrell hard if Pryor goes to O$U. There is a quote out there from Burrell's high school coach, to the effect of "Charles grew 2 inches this season, and MSU would be crazy to not give him a chance at QB". Charles is an athletic qb, and Dick Rod needs an athletic qb, so don't be surprised if Chuck signs with SCum.

Signing day is a week away. If they aren't recruiting him hard now, when will they be??

Could you be any more of a wimp? While we're at it, let's say Fred Smith to U-M, Hoover to U-M, Martin to Illinois -- we're going to lose 'em all.

I'm not worried about that...I'm more concerned with guys who didn't camp at MSU and a couple of eligibility casualties.

Not happening- he changed his cell phone so UM and others can't contact him.

What's your point, this is a board for discussion, right? I don't agree with you, so I'm going to state my opinion. If you don't agree with me, then fine, but if JBS wants to say "no you're wrong" then I'm going to respond. And I think you people are silly with your "this is a great program, with a great tradition, a legacy recruit is a sure thing, and any recruit who doesn't want to come here is an idiot". Well guess what, to those on the outside this isn't a great program, the great tradition is from the 60's, a legacy recruit isn't a sure thing especially when he wants to be the featured back from day one, and recent history states that there are a lot of superior programs out there that offer a better chance to make the NFL and play in bowl games.
I WANT to sign all the commits, I WANT Perry and Ingram to sign with State, but I just think it's realistic to expect otherwise. I'm probably being just a little pessimistic, but it certainly makes up for the sunshine blowers on here.
