Well Carraway, a WR from PA, a guy UM was recruiting, how heavily I am not sure, picked Temple...that is worse in my opinion.

There is a small window when you can't sign, but you can pretty much sign with a team all the way up until the fall. Like Michael Jordan did.

Why is that so weak? First of all, he was already committed to FAU before MSU ever offered, so keeping his word became a factor. Also, he is staying in state and playing for an up and coming program with a legendary coach (it's not like he chose Florida International, who had lost something like 23 straight games before winning their last game of the season).

For both his sake and MSU's sake, I'd rather have him decide that he wants to stay close to home now than to pull a Tyrone McKenzie and waste his and MSU's time (and Iowa State's time, for that matter). When you look at the percentage of our Florida players that dropped out/were kicked out/transfered out of the program over the last 7-8 years, maybe others should have made a similar decision.

Agree with the other posters who feel the heightened level of publicity and hype in today's recruiting is detrimental to the process. The guys who are basically "holding press conferences " on signing day adds another layer of complexity for the coaching staffs, in addition to stringing along the other HS recruits whose options are dependent on what choices are left after the prima donnas announce their selections.

I do like how MD and staff have conducted themselves. In years past, it seemed like some question mark guys were getting scholarship offers just to guarantee MSU would use all the available 'ships. I do not sense any desparation from this staff.

For those who are lamenting the lack of verbals for the last couple weeks, it is very possible that is a good sign. It indicates to me the staff is not going to take just anybody.

Also remember that having some openings available after signing day can be useful. Think we are all happy to see Foles and Jordan wearing the Green and White.

Have you seen the desperation for LB's?? There is a new name every couple of days.

I also saw where a kid (LB) was told that we weren't looking at him anymore because we had another LB commitment on the table.

Does anyone know anything about this kid? Rivals says he is interested, and he is a highly rated FB. I don't remember hearing anything about any fullbacks.

It's all good... Listen, I will say this again and again until somebody actually listens; I am happy with this class! I am, however, not happy with the way it is closing out in regards to the recruitment of linebackers and defensive ends. Does that mean I'm criticizing Coach D and Co? No it absolutely does not! It's not their fault that rival coaches have plenty of negative recruiting ammo against MSU for potential recruits.

Just because I said that the reputation of our program is down nationally, doesn't mean that I'm hating on MSU, it's the truth. The truth can hurt, but just remember what Booby and JLS did to this program. Nationally people saw Booby turn the team into a bunch of hoodlums, and then JLS became that crazy cowboy who slapped himself and players.

I have COMPLETE FAITH IN COACH D to turn the program around. It is going to take more than one 7-6 season to repair the damage that JLS and Booby did. We will continue to lose recruits, recruits like Nick Perry, and even legacy recruits like Mark Ingram Jr.. I'm sorry that people see me as negative, and that I'm supposedly whining, but people are allowed to be upset with recruits choosing elsewhere.

Just because I refuse to blow sunshine constantly does not mean that I'm some tool or whatever Hondo/DantonIzzo thinks I am. That said I hope that I'm wrong on Ingram and Perry, and JBS better call me out if and when Ingram signs on the dotted line. And once again, I AM HAPPY WITH THIS RECRUITING CLASS AND THE OVERALL JOB COACH D HAS DONE WITH THIS PROGRAM!

Because they are desperate for linebackers, and apparently no one here wants to admit it.

You do realize that all of this came out from last weekend. It's entirely possible that his offer was rescinded as well.

It's clearly a problem - what do you want us to do about it? Seriously, what ****ing good does it do be a one trick pony like this? It's not like we can go recruit for these guys. The slow play sucks, we lose a **** ton of guys. Oh well, we're gonna have to live with it. ****ing get over it and get a new hobby rather than harping on LB recruiting all day.

Most people are pretty happy with kids like Winston, Williams, and Rolf (and Stevens at least for depth...sometimes you just have to tryst the coaching staff on these). Good thing that we don't recruit just to impress you.

I think we should all just take your approach to being a fan.

When things go well, say, "that's more like it. It's about time."

When all else fails, *****. Keep expectations unrealistically high; have no sense of perspective.

You must be a joy to sit at a sports bar and have a beer with.
