I'll bet you Winston doesn't even play LB for us.

The biggest problem area on the team is LB? Really? Do you really want to stand by that statement?

Seriously be real for a second. Stop the blowing and see this years LB recruiting for what it really is, a series of "whiffs".

So I'm assuming you don't like Rolf? Williams? Stevens? Why, since I'm assuming you've seen them play, correct? Same goes for Winston, since you already said he probably won't be an LB here.
We have Jones and Gordon. They're sophomores. In the middle, we have Rouse, Decker, etc. Again, where is the proof that LB is the biggest problem spot/most immediate need on this team?

there isn't really a way to know if we "whiffed" this year until at least 2010.

It wouldn't even matter to you if he did. Because you know more about what this class needs and what recruits are important than anyone. The coaches should hire you to get your amazing ****ing insight. Then they'd know to only look at the highly ranked recruits and learn how not to "whiff" on them because you have all the answers. You'd point out to them that Dantonio was the DC on a National Championship team and despite them hearing it before, seeing game tape, and being told how important that they are to this class and program...well suddenly it would all make sense when they heard it from you. Please, kgb. Please help our program.

ummm we took 1 LB last year. Very poor depth at the position. Our MLB graduated. Any more brain busters???

That is what I keep wondering? Will it really be that difficult to replace Thornhill in the middle? Is LB that dire when you have two freshman play REALLY well last year? Plus I think a solid d-line and an improved secondary, can help mask any problems.

Take your frustration out on me. i don't care quite frankly. You know inside however how pathetic the LB recruiting has been. You're just being your usual fluffer self. Tell me AA why are we offering guys like Yourhighness a week before signing day if everything is all good??

Do we not have two starters back who are sophomores? Are you really expecting another LB to come in right away and play anyway (outside of some stud blue-chipper)? A Greg Jones doesn't come around every year, you know.
You know what, forget it. I've wasted my time with you before and I'm not going to do it anymore and clog up this thread. If you truly think LB is our biggest concern in the immediate future, there's nothing I can say that will prove otherwise in your eyes.
Have a terrific day, kgb.

Did you not even read what I wrote before? We had Yourhighness come in this past weekend. Fleming was told that we already had another LB commit. Last weekend. We also have a commit on the table to be announced tomorrow, most likely a LB commit.
****ing read, man. Don't just ***** and moan like you do about everything.

I'm still intrigued at Long and Pickleman at LB. We're going to have a decent MLB, one way or another. They'll make one, grow one...they'll come up with one.

He's a RB. Gets the"tough" yards per his coach.

Comparing our depth at the two positions, I would have thought he'd end up at LB. Especially if we end up with a commitment from Mark Ingram Jr.

For both his sake and MSU's sake, I'd rather have him decide that he wants to stay close to home now than to pull a Tyrone McKenzie and waste his and MSU's time (and Iowa State's time, for that matter). When you look at the percentage of our Florida players that dropped out/were kicked out/transfered out of the program over the last 7-8 years, maybe others should have made a similar decision.
|
Its weak because it demonstrates how far MSU (and the rep of the big ten) has fallen off the recruiting map. When a big ten program, with a storied football past (not recent), 80000 seat stadium, upgraded facilities, good tv exposure, and playing time available cannot persuade a kid to come to msu, that is not good. You can cite all the "duds" who didnt cut it if you like. Its not like they ( MSU) are competing against a SEC or ACC school for this guy. So if you go to FAU, u get what? An old coach and a chance to play Memphis in a WeedEater bowl? OK. I get it. Maybe its a weather thing. Some dudes dont like the cold.

I give up. Don't you think that possibly we got the commit that weekend and told Yourhighness that we were either full now or that we could use him somewhere else? Because all of this happened in the SAME WEEKEND.

I don't really want to argue about it and I am not that familiar with Michael Jordon's specific situation, but I am pretty sure you are wrong.
When people talk about signing day, they are talking about signing a letter of intent. That can only be done during the specified periods. Furthermore, once a school sends you a LOI, you only have 14 days to sign it (the 14 days does not begin until signing day).
There is a mid-year junior college transfer period (mid-December to mid-January).
FWIW, you do not have to sign a letter of intent to receive an atheltic scholarship. It can complicate things, but is not required. That may have been Jordan's situation.
