-there are only THREE scholarships left.
-no one was backdated even with enrolling early...scholarships were already used up for this year.
-there has been lots of speculation including pannell, the ol from ill, whitner, torrance, moore, koger, etc, etc none of them are it
-the orange is NOT an OL recruit. wants Omameh or another OL recruit that has visited (not stevens).
- for 09...popular speculation of orange is #1 norman, #2 campbell, #3 sims
-if you have not went to rivals and watched the video of norman...you better go there now! It is some of the best video out there for a junior lb film

So there are 3 scholarships left. One saved for Perry and one saved for Ingram. MD wants another offensive linemen but this isnt it. 1+1+1+1=4

What does one have to do with the other? A kid who is being recruited by the MSU staff should wait to satisfy a bunch of jock sniffers? Give me a break!

Umm...because they can't even sign anything for a year? Might scare away some kids from signing their LOI because it's at their position? Wait until after the signing period.

Honest question- how does MSU only have 3 slots yet? Is the roster that full? I admit I haven't been paying attention- it seems like every year MSU always has more than enough room, so I guess I just assumed it was the same this year. Does MSU actually have some depth now?

I really hope the "BIG NEWS!" isn't '09 recruits. That being big news is sort of oxymoranic , because it doesn't mean much until they sign on the dotted line IN ANOTHER YEAR! Also, consider that Fredo announced really early, only to flake in the end.
Big news is what Dantonio and staff are landing for the '08 class, anything else is background noise.

We can probably sign more...since the Big Ten allows for 3 schollie oversigns a year.
Not exactly sure where we are with the 85 limit, but I'm sure that there is some flexibility there too.

If it's Norman, Campbell, Sims, or Caper, it's a very big deal.

I just wouldn't be able to be excited about it for a long time. It definitely wouldn't do as much for me as a 3 star 08 OL or something right now.

Who cares. It's an 09 recruit. Not until February 6, 2009 are we going to know if any of these guys eventually sign. They have a whole year to get wined, dined, and paid by other programs around the country.

yeah, somewhat. after devin thomas and tj williams (and others) attrition plus the 20 schollies accepted this year, it equals 82. max 85 scholarships...meaning 3 schollies left. some schollies have been given out to walk ons. just because we are at our limit doesn't necessarily mean we have depth. sure, we have bodies, but that doesn't mean we have a lot of bodies who can actually play. there are also quite a few players who are hurt and cannot play anymore that we are still honoring their scholarship.

Actually, people that can't play anymore aren't counted against the cap.

from his quote on a rivals article a few weeks back said he needs to talk to the coaches and stuff. he will be taking visits and is unsure of where he stands. He was on campus last weekend for the UM/ MSU game.

I know he was on Campus..but I really doubt he would de-commit at this stage.

if we are still honoring their scholarship they do...like arthur ray, jason diehl, etc. now, those guys may end up playing again, but no one is positive of that yet or not.

If they are still on the active roster they do, but if they are like Seth Mitchell was...no. They don't.

if you have seen norman's video you would be VERY excited if it ends up being him.

I've seen Norman's video. It's great and all, but doesn't mean anything for this year nor does it mean that he'll sign with us. I care about 08 kids right now. I'll think about 09 after signing day.

must be nice as an 09 recruit to announce your commitment the day of the dead period that lasts for FOUR months! No coaches bugging you all day, every day to change your mind. I'm sure once coaches caught wind of this they were calling this kid/visiting this kid this week trying to get him to switch. Hopefully they do not succeed!

yeah it doesn't make too much sense. But we won't know until we know.
I don't think Campbell is a "for sure" for U of M right now. If I were him (or anyone who committed that early to a different coach) I would just open up my recruiting again.
