Jonas Gray is #1 player in the state, so he must have been there. I think that it is fair to assume that Fred Smith was probably there. I have no idea on the rest.

Rivals story on camp
They just ran through a list of some names that were in attendance at the camp. Didn't really talk too much about how they performed at the camp or whether any of them are any closer to committing.
Names included Jonas Gray, Fred Smith, Charles Burrell, the big O-lineman from Virginia, some linebacker from Ohio named Jamiir Williams and a host of other names I haven't heard too much about..
They did mention Dumphord leaving and with Arthur Ray's cancer situation, we're up against it on the line and need O-line in this class.

Another batch of unstoppable Plax catches fixed that problem and State won.
Michigan simply had no answer for Plax that day and I still have no idea why Saban didn't just allow Bill Burke and Co. to keep whooping their butts all day.
What is it with MSU football coaches who get content with big leads against traditional powerhouses like Michigan and Notre Dame?
Hint: When you've got em down big, keep kicking 'em. And then show the replay of it over and over to recruits.

As I recall, the comeback was pretty much running pick plays to their tight end.

We could really use a lot of these guys. They have some offers from some quality programs. All would be solid additions to the spartan family

Worries me a bit that the committments are slow, need to stock up on some quality players and avoid having to grab a bunch of two stars at the end like last year.

I agree....We need to lock up some of these guys....It also worries me that Gray has yet to committ and Demens wasn't even at the camp as far as I know....

I doubt we get Demens for some reason. I think if Gray commits, it would be a big time get just because other recruits would see MD is getting a solid class together. Don't want Hoover to start reconsidering because the class is mediocre.

If you want to worry about something making recruits reconsider... The season in terms of wins and losses will be our biggest hurdle by far! Unfortunately.....

I have to disagree. If you watched the entire 2006 ND game, there is no doubt at all who was the better team that day, up until JLS **** the bed. Same goes for the 1999 UM game or any number of other Perles/Saban-coached games. Suddenly conservative offense (run the ball up the middle on 3rd and 10) plus "prevent" defense is a recipe for letting your opponent back into the game. Honestly, it never ceased to amaze me how a head coach of a BCS conference team couldn't grasp the concept that if you play a huge (10-15 yard) cushion in order to prevent a receiver from getting behind your DBs, any halfway decent QB is going to complete ten 8-10 yard passes without any problem. Guess what, Coach -- you just gave up a TD just as surely as if you'd given up an 80-yard bomb.
That's what always infuriated me about the alleged football genius Nick Saban. He just sat there and hoped that either:
a) the opponent wouldn't be able to execute or that
b) somebody -- anybody -- would step up and make a game-saving INT or forced fumble.
That's not how you win. That is, however, how good teams will come back to beat you. That's why you keep the boot on their collective neck until the game is over. And that's why Hoosier is correct -- when your opponent is on the ground begging for mercy, kick 'em in the junk. Recruits want to play for a team that dominates, not for one that barely escapes.
Any news on Gray or Smith in the week it took me to type this?

Yep, that ND was NOT better than MSU. MSU just had a coach who could veto every single advantage we gained over them.

Michigan (nor pretty much anyone else in the Big 10) ever had a CB like Jaren Hayes. Don't over estimate Edward's performance on that day.
Still, someone needs to link AndyH's highlights to the 1999 UM game for BigM (I have it downloaded, but not the link). Plax owned UM. He owned UM so much that I think it was very much in the mind of the UM coaching staff when they came to E.L. two years later and hacked Rogers for the whole game. I don't remember Rogers exact numbers in that game, but I do remember 3-4 pass interference calls that would have been another 75+ yards for Rogers (not counting the "well, we can't cover him, so let's grab him by the face mask and throw him around on a crucial play in the final drive and hope the refs don't see it" play, or the "we can't stop him with 11, so let's put 12 on the field on 4th down and hope the refs don't see it" play).

They were not in the Top 6. UM may have been 1-2 places ahead of MSU in the BCS poll, but it was something like #10 to #12. Don't try to think that there was any reason other than the Michigan brand name that put them in the Orange Bowl that year.
You really need to give up this guise of a MSU fan. No one is buying it. You may have been able to argue that you were just trying to be "objective" with some posts, but when the subject of busts come up, and you quickly throw out three MSU players, there is no objectivity in that. If you would have put a UM bust or two on the list (i.e. Henson), then fine.
Your recruiting "predictions" are just to set up your arguments later. You predict that MSU will get x, y, and z player, so that if they don't, you can crow about how MSU screwed it up. You say that McGuffie signed, sealed, and delivered to USC, so that it can appear that UM pulled off this big recruiting coup when they get him. You're too transparent, and when you get wrapped up in arguments (like the last few pages), you really let your cover slip for anyone who may have doubted your schtick before.

I think he intentionally let's his cover slip, so that we can call him out for being a UM fan and then he can get his jollies denying it. That way, when he can't provoke one way, he can provoke another. Isn't it funny?

stay patient. Its the kids future he has a right to weigh his options and MSU isnt in a position where they can pressure kids into commiting before they're ready like a Michigan is. Signing day is still a long ways away.
