Back to the suject though, I love having the strong hold on the state, but I hope he can keep the balance so we can be there for some good players from Ohio, especially since he's already got ties there. I'd rather sacrafice PA right now than Ohio. I think with 's ties to the state there's more to be had, or lost, there than any other state not named Michigan.

They are not sacrificing a state or doing Michigan at the expense of Ohio. The staff isn't sitting around saying, "Hmm, let's go after the top players in Michigan, but let's not worry about Ohio this year." They're going after the best players they can get. It just so happens that right now there are several top Michigan players who are reportedly close to deciding (within the next month or two), so that is who we are getting the news about. But we are still very active in Ohio. Spartan Mag reported (I think) that there were something like 40 or 50 of the Top 100 players in Ohio on campus at one point or another during Spring practice.
Don't expect to get the #4 player in Ohio every year. There is a lot of competition in that state beyond OSU. MD has done, and will continue to do very well there, but we won't always be getting a Top 5 kid from there.

I'm also sure that Dantonio will hear that u of m is the new favorite for Perry and he will work extra hard to regain the lead. Just let it all play out fellas

It's Perry, what's the story with that
Mark Dantonio and Dan Enos have worked with Nick Perry for three months now. I think we all know what kind of people Mark and Dan are. So, the kid shows up in Romulus just yesterday singing the praises of Mark and Dan to the people from Scout. He then turns around and slinks into Ann Arbor to visit Floyd. He skulks back out a few hours later singing the praises of the weasels to anyone that will listen.
So what in the heck evaluation were we doing for three months? Maybe the kid can ball real good, but maybe our guys aren't real good judges of character.
This is the way things often turn out in the D. The trust quotient does not appear to be overflowing.
You must have to be very resilient to be a football coach. I think Mark's faith will serve him well.

no, I really believe our recruiting efforts should rest with a 17 year old high schooler

Exactly why I told people to calm down earlier in the thread. A lead means damn near nothing.

UM is UM, we need to realize they're the big boys and we have a long way to go. They'll win most recruiting battles in the meantime, but hopefully in time the tides can swing our way.

On the bright side, a certain detroit linebacker has named MSU his leader.
(Hopefully it won't turn as quickly as Perry )

blah, when are we actually going to get a commitment from someone?? I saw on rivals that we're not far away from cracking the top 25 . . . 1 more 4 star and 3 star would do it
(PS, I know the rankings mean nothing, but it's nice to see your team do well at something after a POS season last year)

It is getting a bit frustrating, considering our record this year likely won't help us.

well it looks like Demens is solid, so I would have to believe that Gray isn't far behind. That would give us four 4-star recruits already for the year. That is a solid start.

People nothing is done until Feb....I wish you guys would stop assuming that Gray and Demens our ours without them even verbaling to us....On top of that...Even if we did have verbals from them....The way our season goes could change their minds....

I don't know about you guys, but after finishing 11th place in the big ten last year, I expect those high level recruits to committ to MSU. I mean what is going on?
