It does no good to get a commit from a kid when he isn't sure. He will just **** you later on. We are going to need commitments from kids that truly want to be spartans. Especially when you factor in the fact that this could be a very rough year. Even if we were able to get Gray, Demens, Smith, and Perry to commit before the summer's over, they still probably would have decommited after we went 4-8.

Tradition
Five MNCs sitting in the trophy case

Great academic support (lead the Nation in Academic All-Americans)
Superior strength & conditioning facilities
State of the art locker room and training facilities (for rehab, etc.)
A stable coaching staff
An NFL-type offense
History of good palyer development
I could go on. Anyway, there are far worse places Gray could've picked. We're glad he's N.

Just to let you know, I haven't read a single point out of your post and frankly I don't really care what Nebraska has to offer anyone.

Thanks, pal. Glad I could enlighten you. If you need any more info about Nebraska, holla.
And tonight when you fall asleep clutching your JLS doll, keep repeating to yourself "I don't care what other schools have to offer, please, please, please let State land at least one 3-star LB in this class."

This recruiting class is going to suck. We're going to go 0 for 5 with the instate prospects and we haven't done well at all in Ohio this year. But still, it all matters about what we do on the field this year.

Yeah, Nebraska is a better program right now. That's what happens when you go to a bowl, instead of sitting home at 4 - 8. The people in this thread with a clue are the ones who realize that you can't sell these highly ranked kids warm, fuzzy, fluff. You better have shown some results so the kid feels like he's going somewhere worthwhile in a football sense. MSU is NOT in that position right now, and won't be until Dantonio can WIN SOME GAMES!
Now you could blame Coach Dantonio for not having coached a game yet, but does that make any sense? You can blame the assistants, you can whine and cry, and it all pointless. The ONLY way Dantonio and his staff can bring in good recruits consistantly, is to show the progress on the field. JLS couldn't do it and he couldn't recruit, BW couldn't do it and he couldn't really recruit, Saban could BARELY do it, and he still said he couldn't recruit against um when he left.

Trust me I won't be needing any more info about your hick school.
Was that supposed to be an insult? You need to do a better job than that to get at me pal. Seriously, a JLS doll? What the hell is that about?

So how is Illinois doing it. Zook hasn't shown great progress and he is selling the program.

FYI most programs don't recruit like Illinois has out of the gate. 90% of the time it takes at least a year or two. Expecting any school to do what Illinois has is ridiculous.

agreed, i think tom lemmin or somebody said what Illinois is doing he hasnt seen anybody ever do. everytime I go down there to visit my friends I shake my head, I dont see one appealing thing about that campus that someone would want to play fball there. Zook is just a one in a million type recruiter.

It's something to do with the clearing house. All indications point to him being very focused on being a Spartan. He's the kind of recruit we need on campus!

That is what I heard, the school he was at is the probelm from my understanding. Hey, on another note, what ever happened to Patrick Reigan. (the 4* player from Traverse City)??

Gotcha, I don't think he cracked the 2-deep. That's fine, I'd be a bit worried if a RS frosh on EITHER line was on the 2-deep (though we may see AJ/Wheat on there)
By all accounts he'll be a fine players, but I think they moved him to DT so he's got a lot of weight to gain, I think he's only 250

you people amaize me. The only way a coach can get recruits at Illinois and OHio State hoops is to pay them. What idiots.

Gill has moved Rigan from DE to NT where he believes he will be a better fit. Hawken moved to the DE position.
Expect several more position shake ups as Dantonio and his staff look to put players in the best positions for them to excel based on their talent and ability.
The move of Hawken to DE also has me speculating that Greg Jones is going to be looked upon to provide significant minutes at linebacker this season.

Damn, wish we could RS him .. . he's only 210, needs to be about 220+ to really be effective.

Here is a telling quote from an Ohio DT MSU is recruiting. He also has an offer from Nebraska, UC, and a few MAC programs.
"I really do not have any favorites at this time, but I like Michigan State. I also like some of the schools that have not offered me as well like Ohio State, West Virginia and Wisconsin."
Kids want to hold out for programs that are winners. Hopefully MSU can show him that winning can happen in EL too.

So, let's see-- Dantonio spent one year as a grad. asst. at Purdue, six on the staff at MSU and three at Ohio State. I bet he knows "how to recruit the Big Ten". But, thanks for playin'.
