Football tOfficial 2008 Football Recruiting Thread

Now that the 2007 class is behind us, let's turn our attention to next year's class.

Does any one have any insight on who the 2008 in-state studs are? Who is next year's RoJo? Are we in on any top 50 guys for 2008?

Thanks gostate!

Look at all those 2-stars and 1-stars. MD is going to clean up in state this year.

yeah 2007 class was and is bust. 2008 return us to glory. hey boosters start giving the $100 hand shakes to coaches, players, parents, etc. Wouldn't hurt to start filling some off shore accounts for these kids as well.

Don't quit yet, 2008 recruiting

Rivals put out a list of their top 100
http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewrank...08&ra_key=1735

Here is a list of people that are intersted (even a little)

and people we should go after:

Interested:
Mike Adams (OL-Ohio)-Medium Interest
Jonathan Baldwin (WR-PA)-Medium
Jonas Gray (RB-MI)-Medium
Masengo Kabonko (DT-CT) Medium

Go after:
Brandon Beachum (Youngstown-OH, Coach D coached here i believe)
Steve Filer-(LB-Chicago, our neck of the woods)
Michael Floyd (WR-MN, see above)
Brandon Green(WR-chicago)
Brandom Moore (TE-OH)
Terrell Pryor (#1 prospect in the nation QB, From PA, why not)
Zabrie Sanders (OL-OH)
Cordalle Scott (WR-OH)

I figure we pick up one of the 8 that don't have us on their radar, and 1 or 2 of the ones that are interested.

Thats gonna be 3-4 or 5 stars right there. Who else can we get our foot in the door with who will be major recruits?

Bottom line, we gotta win some games before we can seriously expect a few 5 stars.

Arthur "Waterboy" Brown

Anybody with a Rivals subscription should check out this LB/RB from Wichita, Kans. -- Arthur Brown, class of 08.

He runs after people on defense like they just stole something from him. He plays angry, like the Water Boy!

On offense, he gets to the corner, turns up field and starts motoring -- only he looks to put the hurt on somebody. This guy is a stud.

I guess you also have to consider what kind of competition he plays against in Kansas, but Florida is already listed for him. Yet, they can't land everybody and aside from Notre Dame, the other schools listed as interested in him are about on par with us.

Hope we go after this guy.

I disagree.

Illinois will go 0-12 and get all of Rivals Top 100. The top couple dozen kids will get scholarships. The other 75 will pay their own way and walk on.

Yeah I wish half those guys were DBs too, but we can't rely on that. Plus remember those were the top 100. So about 30 or so will be 5 stars, 70 will be 4 stars, there will be a whole extra crop of 4 stars, and all the 3 stars. I'll definetly be satisified with 3 star DBs coming to MSU, as long as they are DBs!

seriously though, this is a bit premature. But i bet if MD and crew get the team in shape and pull off a decent season (i'm predicting 5-7 for a starting year) and can show we're growing and improving. Avoid big blow outs and reduces the stupid mistakes we might be able to land some of these kids.

What Ive scrapped together:
- Early indications are that the positions Dantonio will focus most on for this class are Wide Reciever, Offensive Linemen, and Linebacker. But obviously with Dantonio's focus on defense, getting some more bodies to play in the Secondary and on the Defensive Line is another focus point.
- As many know by this point and time, the state of Ohio is loaded with talent this year. Expect maybe a 1/3 of the class to be Ohioans.
- Everyone said last season that that was the greatest class in the history of the state of Michigan. Well it probably was, but there isnt as big of a dropoff as you might think. You will probably see several Michigan players ranked as "Four Stars" and maybe even a "Five Star".
- Michigan runningback Jonas Gray (Likely the top player left on the board from the state of Michigan) has stated that his top 5 includes Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State.
