Weird kid.

Doesn't like MSU, but visits the campus 453 times in the past year?

Have fun on the bench, Mark. That'll be making your own path.

I get the bama commitment, but MSU 3rd on his list?

Didn't connect?

Wanted to make his own path?

I guess i have to remember, these are 17 year olds.

It was during his 18th visit here that he finally figured out that he didn't connect with MSU.

Maybe he felt the need to get out of Michigan based on this about his father.

Mark Ingram

Mark Ingram
Date of birth: August 23, 1965 (1965-08-23) (age 42)
Place of birth: Rockford, Illinois
Position(s): Wide receiver
College: Michigan State
NFL Draft: 1987 / Round: 1 / Pick 28
Team(s) as player
1987-1992
1993-1994
1995
1996 New York Giants
Miami Dolphins
Green Bay Packers
Philadelphia Eagles
Mark J. Ingram (born August 23, 1965 in Rockford, Illinois) is a former American Football wide receiver in the NFL who played for the New York Giants (1987-1992), the Miami Dolphins (1993-1994), the Green Bay Packers (1995), and the Philadelphia Eagles (1996).

After playing high school football for Flint Northwestern high school He went on to play college football at Michigan State University, and was selected by the Giants in the first round (28th overall) in the 1987 NFL Draft.

Ingram is probably best known for a third down play in Super Bowl XXV in which he eluded at least five Buffalo Bills defenders to achieve a critical first down for the Giants to sustain a long touchdown drive. As a Miami Dolphin, in a game against the New York Jets, Ingram hauled in four touchdown passes from Dan Marino. The most notable was the game-winning TD which was the result of Marino faking out the Jets defense by indicating he was going to spike the ball to stop the clock. Instead, he lobbed a short pass to Ingram who was wide open in the end zone.

Ingram retired after the 1996 season and has been in trouble with the law ever since. In July 2001, Ingram was sentenced in a Miami federal court to six months in prison after getting caught with $3,290 in counterfeit cash during a police sting targeting a stolen vehicle. Ingram was sentenced to a year in jail in October 2004 after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor for stealing a credit card from a Flint, Michigan area golf course. And in August 2007, Michigan prosecutors issued an arrest warrant charging Ingram with a felony count of breaking and entering of a building in Grand Blanc Township near Flint, and of stealing a purse containing cash and credit cards[/b]

Unless he's changing his identity, he'll never be able to get away from that.

I'm pretty sure his next job will be pushing the book cart at Jackson State Prison.

I agree greenforever.....

that's entirely possible. I went to MSU when Mark Ingram SR. was a WR there, and he was constantly getting into trouble. Including one specific incident I remember where he stole stereo equipment. I guess you can't blame the kid if he wants to break away from the old man's past. BTW-Ingram Sr. WON'T END UP AT BAMA on the coaching staff IMO.

I'll post something along the same lines...

From 2002 ESPN.com: NCF - NCAA puts Alabama football on five-year probation

Major findings cited by the NCAA Infractions Committee in imposing penalties on the Alabama football program Friday:

# A recruit, identified in news reports as Kenny Smith, and his parents were given $20,000 in cash, lodging and entertainment by two Crimson Tide boosters beginning in 1995. The first payment of $10,000 was made in $100 bills delivered in a grocery bag. Smith signed with Alabama but couldn't meet academic requirements.

# An Alabama booster previously identified as Logan Young of Memphis, Tenn., gave cash to a high school coach who was seeking $100,000 cash and two sport-utility vehicles in exchange for directing star recruit Albert Means to Alabama.

# An assistant coach, former recruiting coordinator Ronnie Cottrell, received two loans totaling $56,600 from Young in violation of NCAA rules. The loan was not repaid until the case became known.

# Two boosters involved in repeated rules violations were known to the Alabama staff, coaches and fans and often were seen at the team hotel during road games.

# A recruit, identified previously as Travis Carroll, was given the use of a car in 1999 for agreeing to attend Alabama. The car was repossessed when Carroll transferred to Florida.

Mark, Mark, Mark.

I really wish you had chosen State, where you could be your own man, played close to home to an appreciative fan base and for coaches that are straight shooters. What Nick Saban says and what Nick Saban does are not the same thing, check his recent history if you would. The man is a good football coach, but that doesn't make him a good man.

You passed on a chance to play for a good man in Coach Dantonio and the good men in his staff. Fair enough. You gave us your thoughtful consideration. Best of luck to you.

I'm moving on. I want young men that want to be Spartans on this football team.

Mark Jr.,

Good luck to you at Alabama.

Meanwhile, MD will build the program with true Spartans that want to be here. I hope you don't regret your decision when you see what gets built here, and that you weren't a part of it.

since it is being reported, and no one has shared it here I might as well. Very credible sources have said that alabama guaranteed they would get mark Sr a VERY good job if Jr. committed to Bama. I guess this would be a big factor after all. This does not change the fact that he wants to leave his own legacy and get from out of the shadow of his Dad. Just because his dad and him have had some rocky times does not mean he does not want to help his dad out. he sees this as a possible way to start over and another chance for dad. if you think this is not dirty tactics then I guess we have different definitions of dirty....even though this is a violation of the ncaa. SEC school do this all the time, among many other things. I am glad our coaching staff is above it.

yep and natron tries to say I make stuff up
It is a tradition at bama, hell the whole sec, to play dirty. Why would anyone think this recruitment would end up any different (meaning bama not playing dirty) saban/bama tell the kid anything and do whatever it takes to get the kid.

All very good questions.

From what I heard (I PM'd Dantonizzo about this a few days ago) that he was never in love with MSU.

After reading what he said during his PC, I am convinced it was true no more than ever.

He bought the line of crap Saban was giving him.

Oh well, good luck to him...well, not really....like Fredo, he's dead to me....
