t2008 offensive line recruits

Ruhland
Woods
Deyo
McDonald
Heuter

Will they all redshirt? Who will be the best and what positions will they play?

I think McDonald and Ruhland are the two best. But where will McDonald play and can either of them make an impact soon (as underclassmen)?

Woods needs lots of technique work, definite redshirt. Deyo needs to really bulk up, definite redshirt, McDonald needs to redshirt to bulk up if he is indeed playing OL as well, Heuter can still pack on pounds but needs to work on technique. Ruhland is the most technically sound and best of the bunch. He needs to gain weight as well and I highly doubt any of these will see the field as a true freshman.

Quickest to make an impact will be Ruhland, you can bank on that.

It will several years before any of these guys see the field and thankfully so. It takes time to develop a Big Ten caliber offensive linemen.

Here is how I see things playing out. the names could switch around a bit, but you'll get the general idea.

2008

T Jesse Miller RS SR
G Roland Martin RS SR
C Joel Nitchman RS JR
G Brendan Moss RS JR
T Rocco Cironi RS JR

2009
T Jared McGaha RS SO
G Jason Diehl (if healthy) RS JR if not, Joel Foreman RS SO
C Joel Nitchman RS SR
G Brendan Moss RS SR
T Rocco Cironi RS SR

2010
T Jared McGaha RS JR
G Jason Diehl (if healthy) if not RS SR, Arthur Ray Jr RS JR, or Anthony Wood RS SO
C Ethan Ruhland RS SO
G Joel Foreman RS JR
T Zach Heuter RS SO

2011
T Jared McGaha RS SR
G Arthur Ray Jr RS SR or Anthony Wood RS JR
C Ethan Ruhland RS JR
G Joel Foreman RS SR
T Zach Heuter RS JR

2012
T John Deyo RS SR
G Anthony Wood RS SR
C Ethan Ruhland RS SR
G Chris McDonald RS SR
T Zach Heuter RS SR

After looking over the roster for next year I think Ruhland could make the 2 deep. If Deihl, Leggins, and Ray all cannot play or Ruhland simply beats them out, then he would be in our top 10 Olinemen. Unless Deane or some Dline player switch to guard (and are good), he could actually back-up Martin next year.

Good except no way is Ruhland playing Center. Joel Foreman is the center of the future.

Bringing in an o-line class where all the recruits can redshirt is a very valuable asset. I dont think the importance of this can be stated enough.
I hope that Diehl and Ray both recover from the ailments as I think they could anchor a really good line for a couple of years, allowing some more of these guys to mature and progress.
