EAST LANSING -- When Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio talked on the phone to Charles Burrell this morning, he asked the former Detroit Southeastern defensive back to "look down at his feet."


Dantonio went on to explain his request during his national signing day press conference, which just came to an end Wednesday at the Clara Bell Smith student-athlete academic center, as an example of how things are changing for the Spartans.

Burrell is one of 21 players who today signed national letters-of-intent binding him to MSU, and had Dantonio talking about winning championships with in the near future.

"He looked down there and I said, `Now you just imagine those feet playing in the middle of the Rose Bowl because that's where they will be four or five years from now,' " Dantonio said.


I'm not gonna lie that kinda gave me the chills!

haha yea I thought of that too. I mean there's two ways of looking at this quote.

1. Dantonio's quote is taken out of context, what he really meant was we will be getting there within 4-5 years, but he didn't use the right wording

or

2. In 4 -5 years we will be the best team we can because it will be a roster full of the type of players Dantonio and his staff want. Right now his team is led by John L type players and that isn't really his ideal recruits.


Look how good Cinci's team did this year in year 4 of what would have been coach D's 4th year there. He needs about 4 years to get to the level of players he needs to really field a successful team. 1 year down, 3 to go!

Heck, it's already been > 20 years. I can take 4 or 5 more as long as each year has a least a little more improvement. For example, no more getting our D smoked my Northwestern, and hanging a 48 on us!!

Well, it makes sense, I mean, the Rose bowl is the BCS national championship game only once every 4 years
